NEW YORK ATTACKS AND ANTHRAX SCARE HURT ONLINE TOBACCO SALES

New York, NY Dec 1 2001 - Many visitors to the online discussion forum smokinglobby.com, which advocates the rights of cigarette smokers, have expressed problems with their international mail tobacco orders. "I used to get cigarettes in the mail within a week, " complains one visitor named Nate, "but my last order took over 3 weeks."

Smokinglobby.com founder Bill Williams claims the site drives most of its exit traffic to yesmoke.com, an international online tobacco reseller located in Europe. Due to its largely pro-smoking message, smokinglobby.com receives a lot of visitors who are interested in purchasing tobacco products. Williams says "People come here to talk about smoking, so obviously they are interested in following the links to purchase cigarettes which are advertised at a fraction of the cost they can buy them in America."

But recently visitors have been complaining about slow mail delivery, blaming it on the September 11 NYC attacks and Anthrax scares. "I've seen it first hand and I've been hearing about it in emails and visitor opinions, " says Williams. "The priority airmail parcels containing tobacco used to get here from Europe in a matter of days. Now it's a matter of weeks."

"I don't know if this problem will continue or alleviate, " states Williams. "But you can rest assured the smokinglobby.com visitor opinions will let us know either way."

59 PER CENT OF WEBSITE VISITORS PREFER SMOKING

New York, NY Jun 4 2001 - In a poll conducted over the past year on its website, smokinglobby.com has determined that 59% of visiting users prefer smoking. That number is made more significant by the fact that 23% of visitors expressed neutrality and only 18% registered themselves as anti-smoking.

"We're very happy with these numbers, " says smokinglobby.com founder Bill Williams. "Less than a quarter of our traffic is anti-smoking. We're obviously reaching our target demographic."

Visitors who leave messages and opinions on the website discussion forum are polled each time they leave a remark with a simple checkbox. "We don't censor or moderate any opinions, unless, of course, they have nothing to do with smoking, " cites Williams. "Even obscene or inflammatory remarks are counted, whether they are pro- or anti-smoking, as long as they discuss an opinion about smoking or the rights of smokers today. We are open to all viewpoints, that's what we're here for."

Advocating the rights of cigarette smokers, smokinglobby.com offers a central online source of information to discuss the controversy surrounding smoking in America today. Visitors are provided with a realtime chat room as well as a discussion forum to talk about smoking and smokers' rights.

NEW WEB COMPANY ADVOCATES SMOKER'S RIGHTS

New York, NY Aug 16 2000 - In order to combat the rising trend in anti-smoking media campaigns, a new organization has announced it will champion the cause of smokers. Advocating the rights of cigarette smokers, smokinglobby.com offers a central online source of information to discuss the controversy surrounding smoking in America today.

"I think we're all pretty tired of those annoying TV commercials which only serve to promote hate for today's smoker," says Bill Williams, founder of smokinglobby.com. "And I wanted to provide a place for smokers, and even anti-smokers, to come and discuss topics which they feel are important." Williams and the smokinglobby.com group try to espouse a "free speech" environment on their website, allowing every voice to be heard.

In topics ranging from smoking to political issues, the smokinglobby.com reaction page is a hotbed of controversy. "People are angry about these issues, and they want to be heard. We simply offer them a louder voice," says Williams.

Since the recent verdict against big tobacco, visitors have been flocking to the site to discuss the latest outcome of the trial, says Williams. "As you can imagine, smokers hate the verdict. They don't want to be punished with higher prices on their hobby." One online visitor named Debbie echoed this sentiment quite succinctly: "I'm tired of being a social outcast because I smoke. I am also tired of having to mortgage my house for a carton of cigarettes."
