NEW YORK ATTACKS AND ANTHRAX SCARE HURT ONLINE TOBACCO SALES

New York, NY Dec 1 2001 - Many visitors to the online discussion forum smokinglobby.com, which advocates the rights of cigarette smokers, have expressed problems with their international mail tobacco orders. "I used to get cigarettes in the mail within a week, " complains one visitor named Nate, "but my last order took over 3 weeks."

Smokinglobby.com founder Bill Williams claims the site drives most of its exit traffic to yesmoke.com, an international online tobacco reseller located in Europe. Due to its largely pro-smoking message, smokinglobby.com receives a lot of visitors who are interested in purchasing tobacco products. Williams says "People come here to talk about smoking, so obviously they are interested in following the links to purchase cigarettes which are advertised at a fraction of the cost they can buy them in America."

But recently visitors have been complaining about slow mail delivery, blaming it on the September 11 NYC attacks and Anthrax scares. "I've seen it first hand and I've been hearing about it in emails and visitor opinions, " says Williams. "The priority airmail parcels containing tobacco used to get here from Europe in a matter of days. Now it's a matter of weeks."

"I don't know if this problem will continue or alleviate, " states Williams. "But you can rest assured the smokinglobby.com visitor opinions will let us know either way."
