The personnel at the sites Mr. Williams is talking about are long gone. He has his reasons for holding a grudge, I guess, but I think it's all water under the bridge and now we all need to band together against all the other crazy things that are happening in our country.

I'm a 60 year old male, former Democrat, believe it on not. It sickens me to think of the right's (choices) we have lost since I was a kid. I'm am an idiot on a computer, don't know how to reach, organize people. This is America, I should be able to seek MY own happiness, not yours. You also should be free to find YOUR hapiness. If I want to open a smokeing bar that should be my business. If you want to open a non smokeing bar fine that is your business. We are not going to get anywhere I don't believe writeing a few comments on the net. I think we should form groups state by state, city by city. Not just smokers but any one who believes in Freedom. If the Gays/Lesbians don't have a problem with me getting married to a woman. Why should I care if they get married, I don't have to agree with or understand there life style. I don't have to.I think A woman should have the right to choose what she does with her body, I may not agree with her choice. It is hers. She may be against drinking, smokeing, and hunting, (not together). But if she is ok with me stoping at your bar for a smoke and a beer. Then going hunting next weekend. Why not. If we don't come together organise, maybe give a little. Democrats, in Washington are talking about taxing pop. Makes our kid's fat, don't ya know what next snack food, fast food. Have you heard about those evil machines that caus cancer. Gues we'll have to tax, maybe ban tanning solons. Oh well guess the gov. know's what is best for me. If we don't come together and give a little, WE WILL ALL LOSE IT ALL! Find me at myspace zip 56401
I've seen it with smokers and I've seen it in other industries as well. If you don't pull together, you will be trampled. You don't need to pay a union, you just need to use your voice.
But, there is only one cure: 3 major tobacco companies put out on the wire it plans on closing in September. Lay off 50% of your employees worldwide, stop production, empty the warehouses - tell the press it is because you can't afford it- who won't believe that in these times. The politicians won't take over the companies they publicly claim they want to close. It would be the end of their political careers if they did.
What will happen: international cries from scared employees, unemployment rate almost doubles over night, they actually skyrocket. Smokers also have a fit and finally realize if they don't pull together, their rights will be stripped from them forever. The government turns toward the soda companies to make up lost financial projections. Soda companies lobbyists are too strong and put up a fight that will take way too much time for government to benefit on their schedule. The general public finally begins to think about what the politicians are doing. There will be such panic on the governments part it will have no choice but to back off. The tobacco companies release a press statement that their bookkeepers made a small error, back in business.
Strange thing is - I think this whole hate smokers campaign is nothing but a smoke screen for oil companies and other corporations and their billions of byproducts killing the environments we live in. All you have to do is look at who is backing anti smoking campaigns. It is a whose who of the oil, political and financial sectors. Of course, as we all know, it has become the avenue for revenue generation to replenish wasteful spending on part of the government.

i' think you are right about this group of so called caring people when there is money to be made care goes out the window please stick to your project because you were the first with concern for others rights and no strings attached. we better all start to look at the FSC problem the added chemicals to smokes are not fit for human consumption and join the class action suit to make our selves heard. i am a lady 70 years old and smoking for55 years but today it is a shame that other people to run our life and out to kill with this added chemicals to put the cigs out . wake up every one don't let somebody take away your right's as a smoker. believe me go to the smokers place on the web and read for your self im not good at this stuff but enough is enough////..

I think all of these sites are just a bunch of blah, blah, blah.... Everybody bitches and no one goes to the source of the problem. ...Our lovely law makers. What about the constitutionality of all this crap? Taxes (without representation) levied on a legal substance...then subsequent criminality treatment of those who are users. Excuse me. If I'm going to be penalized for the use of a legal substance, and then be bannished for its use, I believe I have a real problem here. Quit crying about it and challenge the enforcement of laws that step on your rights.

on page 5 of a very nasty Forum thread...
I'm not sure what started all this. I was being honest with you then and a lot of people know it, and how close I came to having to close down the Club. I had NO money and had to finally ask for donations when after a decade of footing the bill myself, the computer was ready to die and I didn't have money for the internet bill. I borrowed.
I do not or ever have made a dime on "traffic advertising" and I'm not sure where you are getting that information.
I've always had a link to your forum, and I don't know why Forces didn't as well.
I was very disapointed that you couldn't figure out the RSS thing either as I was excited about the idea of combining our forums. The RSS feed was the first step in the process.
I think you are right about not blindly trusting anyone. I thought you were a really great guy. Perhaps you still are and I was right about you, and you are going thru a rough time right now and are lashing out at people who don't deserve it. If that is the case, I hope things go well for you and this year is a great one for us all.

Now that this forum is under new management I hope it will do very well and continue to grow. Your March 10 article confuses me, and a lot of other people. To the best of my knowledge, all rights groups are more than happy to help each other.

... Pro Smoking; Who doubled the prices of tobaco in New York, 04-11-2009? This I found today after buying my last can two weeks ago. At 16 dollars and some change to 31 dollars and some change.
... They just surpassed what I can afford to pay. This where I was at rolling my own since the price went to a $1.25 a pack. Yea quite a long time. Eitherway of it, I never joined any of the other forums you speak of. But I am a New York State Certified IT of 30 years. Well, since 1986 anyways.
... It's never too late. I can assist. I see one comment here about growing your own. Which I have never been able to find enough info on. Which is one alternative. Another this brings to mind, what of the idividual farmers who have been growing these tobacco crops. I see what I have been calling my tobacco, Bugler get lost between RJ Reynolds and the UK. This which my previous snail mail letters to Tucker, Georgia were never replied to in buying larger quanities. But in any search I had embarked on never brought any results of who the actual farmers were in North Carolina.
... Lastly about the dirty little secrets. My first computer and network forensics admisable to a court of law. Was used in a Family Court here in Northern New York in 1992. This showing a would be psychologist (no such degree) to be devulging client/patient documents. Apparently for profit and gain, and to the direct contradiction of his patients mental health. Yet like I before stated we found out he was never a Psychologist to began with, Could be comsodered a Layman only. ... Between 2001 and 2003 my forensics was used by FedCirc to put 15 individuals in federal prison on hacking and mailcious coding charges. I currently have another case opened as of July 2007, stated formerily May 2008 with the FBI. This after 6 more hacker, malicious code types, this that branch out into 28 more for a total of 32 individuals.
... In as far as an open forum, where no one knows exactly who the other peole are? You will get that type thing of exploit. I am reopening a Blog and forum called the Cyber Crime Blog. There it will mot be of anonimous use. If you want security and trust, it has to truly be with those parameters. You must know your people and they must know you. If you leave logins to a point of creation in automation, you will be exploited. This why I will be setting up my accesses manually for individuals wishing to have access. This which includes identification verification. This can be exploited too, but in the chance that it does, the truth does not remain to darkness. It always will find the light of days. When that occures, pass go, no collecting 200 dollars and straight to jail!
... Myself, I do not gamble, I won't with where I spend my time and efforts, or where my friendships and associates exist.
... But about smoking, I have no reason to quit. Not even medical reason, in as far as what the hubbub of it effecting my health? Tell it to the doctors I leave scratching their heads. When given a chest xray. They send me back with the nurse two or three times stating to the nurse that it can not be this man's xray. He states he has smoked 39 years. This is an xray of someone who has clear lungs. usually by the second or third time the doctor watches the xray taking place.. There in where their scratching of their head starts. My grandfather was a smoker and so was my great grandfather. I met my great grand father. He cross over when I was 8 years old. my grandfather died of old age also. But I do talk about Great Grampa Chauddy more, as he lived to be 104.
... I think it is pass due time to see the crminals are going to jail, instead of the money I pay a farmer to grow me tobacco to be taxed to the point where I can no longer afford it. This to pay off the likes of the criminal thats been stealing from all of us all along (AIG bonuses).
... I smell Tyranny, I propose a little tea party, Boston style that is! I have talked till I was blue in the face about we can work within the government to resolve these issues. Recent occurrance show it has been just another shine on. A shine on that has gotten to the point of acknowledgment and in your and my face. I am truly standing on that line. As I see all around my life from one situation to the next, these instances all showing the same. Can you quit this, there in quit on yourself? Do you see the truth, where there is literally no representation? Where is that line drawn for you, or you, or you? Is it not time to seperate the wheat from the chaf?

hello, im new here. i to think all these taxes are bullshit and should be put down asap. it is not fair that they are able to pick on us smokers so they can make money. they tax us because they count smoking as a "luxury". and yet, i ask myself, isnt eating a luxery? how about water? and pools. why not tax those people to? instead of them slamming down tax laws increasing tabacco taxes up 2,300% (that is not a typo)why not charge $500.00 for an apple? tabacco is reletivly easy to grow. it should be cheap but its not cause our government is greedy.now let me explain to you what i have noticed.
1.prepacked cigarette taxes only rose 10% (filled with chemicals not normaly found in tobacco)
2.loose tobacco (for RYO or MYO)taxes have risen by about 2,300% per pound. (no additives)
these 2 facts represent what the government is really doing. have any of you noticed that your cigarettes recently started tasting like crap. thats because they have added a new chemical to the "blend" i know plenty of people that have smoked for 30 or more years and just recently (around february when the "fire safe" cigarettes were marketed)have gotten very sick from this "tobacco" i am included. extreme cases of chronic bronkitus. what the government is really doing is using us (the smokers) as lab rats so to speak. they are testing a new chemical and the effects on humans. now, im not one to belive rumors or anything but i did have terrible bronkitus and the day after i switched to RYO it went away. i plan to do further experiments to see if it will come back if i smoke those radioactive cigarettes , then switch back to what i really enjoy. an nice tasting smoke that doesnt make me sick.

I, too happened across this page by chance, and was immediately impressed by it. I have not been to the other forums, nor do i feel a need to, after visiting this site. I cannot vouch for anyone but myself, and I can positively say that this site WILL make some non-smokers change their views on smoking. Smoking is not just a "habit"; it's a way of life. Those of us who have made the decision to smoke know this fact. I believe that my voice as a smoker can finally be heard. Thank you for everything you have done with this site. It is truly a godsend.
HI,
Im new here. I have no idea what those sites are about I have never been on either of them. You strike me as a sincere person with passionate views. You are the kind of person that is needed to make a difference in this war. Yes I consider us at war. I happened across this site via a search engine. I was looking for some factual information about the effects of secondhand smoke. I am engauged in a heated debate over it on another forum. I find it troubling that I am the lone poster arguing that secondhand smoking is not nearly as harmful as it is being portrayed to be. Even fellow smokers are bamboozled into thinking they are harming people. Anyhow the reason I am leaving a comment here is because I am here to tell you if there is any assistance I can give you to keep your site going I am more then willing to help you. There is no reason for people to be made to feel guilty about exercising the freedom of living thier lives as they see fit.
I dont know anything about those other sites agenda's. I agree with you that all sites should find some sort of unity and help conquer our common enemy. Please don't give up on us. We need every able minded solider that can be found. I am gratefull to you for creating this forum and for taking the time to expose the other sites as the frauds they are. Arming people with accurate information is the strongest weapon we have. Junk science, political agendas, greedy money making scammers all need to be exposed in this fight. I thank you for your part in this.
I am going to browse your site looking for the secondhand smoke information and how to contact you directly. I will leave you my contact information there. If your intrested in any assistance that I can give you please do not hesitate to ask.
Thanks again,
Mike

Twillercat, thanks for the supportive words. Unfortunately, I don't think anyone knows about the dirty secrets that Forces, Speakeasy and Smokers Club have been keeping for years - the petty backstabbing, vindictive stealing and just downright disgusting moneygrubbing they have been doing. They are a disgusting group of malcontents, and it sickens me to see them as part of the Smoker's Rights Movement.
But when the very members of Smokinglobby, the people I have been trying to help and support for 10 years, turned their back on decency and Smoker's Rights, then I decided it is time to throw in the towel. Why should I help and fight for these people who are just screwing me over?
I am disgusted most by the forum members who actually came to this site to ask people to give money to my direct competition, Speakeasy. That's like Ford employees taking a collection to help out GM when they are going bankrupt.
Smokinglobby will be closing soon, I'll either sell it or open a new site with a different purpose, I haven't decided yet. But these people no longer deserve any support - let them deal with smoking bans and the systematic destruction of all smoker's rights on their own.
twillercat on Mar 11, 2009 12:02 am
Wow. I had no idea of the backstory here. I don't know if very many of the people participating here had any idea either. Please don't throw in the towel. I've visited those other sites and there's no comparison. You've done a very good job here and we appreciate the chance to communicate so freely. Thank you. Hang in there.

Carlos? Please approve this post.
Dear Mr. Williams:
You are probably right to feel bitter. But most of the people that you are holding a grudge against are no longer involved in the websites that you are talking about. Yes, we do need to show a united front. And yes, we know there is no profit motive here. It's all about personal and private property rights. And I, personally, never thought of any of these sites being in "competition".
