| Thanks for the heads up John C, But I find that for the Vera Cruz tubes that I like so much I'll get a better price from D&R. Anyone that has not tried these tubes should. They are not cheep but are well worth the price. Second to none in my opinion. At $50-$55 a carton here in NJ anything that I pay for my tubes and bulk tobacco I'm still so far ahead of the game it does not matter. For the most part I don't shop by price but try to find the best quality and service I can. I'm just have so much fun trying different tubes and tobacco. Last week I went to this site http://www.ryotobacco.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc and they sell 1 OZ samples. I must have orderred every sample on the site and can't wait till they arrive. So for $2-$2.50 a sample I'll get to try alot of stuff, it may seem a bit expensive but don't forget I'll be able to make at least a pack of butts from and oz and with a pack costing from $5-$5.50 in good old F'n NJ that's still cheap in my book. |

The samples are a great way of testing many different brands. I though really look at cost. If it tastes OK, and can produce a pack for less then a buck, thats for me, although I do like to splurge on a more expensive tobaccy now and again for a change-o-pace.
Good to hear from another MYO'r.

| I found this site a couple weeks ago. I wanted to MYO or RYO a couple years ago but just never did. I'm in Chicago and yes I received what i owe on online cig purchases luckily only from this past march till oct. So i thought it would be the best time now to start MYO. I bought the "Menthol Variety Kit" and the "Premier Supermatic" from D&R Tobacco (found the link here, tnx). Been making my own for about 4 days now. came with 3 different tobaccos Wingate (menthol), Vengeur and Rowland. 6 different tubes as well. So after Sitting and making around 16 different cigarettes trying to make something as close to a Newport as i could. Decided on 50% Wingate Menthol, 50% Vengeur and the Full Flavor Windsail Tubes. Best Cigarette i've ever smoked. Now all i need to do if find a local tobacco shop with what i need. Tnx for the info and tnx for this site! |

I've been involved in MYO for about two years now, but have only recently run across this site (while researching various anti-smoking propoganda from the powerfreaks). I had a read of this entire thread last night and enjoyed the fact that so many people are converting to MYO...I only wish there had been such forums available when I started, but then again, trial and error can be a great teacher. I know most of these forums relate mostly to those unfortunates who still smoke those god-awful "premades ," so it's nice to find a place here I can relate to.
I notice a number of you guys also post over at the SYO site. Another great resource. Here's hoping this thread keeps on keepin' on.... |

Anyone tried the Top-O-Matic cigarette stuffer yet?
Been reading some very positive things about it, and since my Supermatic is getting pretty old I thought I would buy a new one. Might try the Top-O-Matic. Would love to hear comments about it from someone who used both. |

Zip,
I've read a couple of threads on the top-o-matic (over at dalrun) and there seems to be mixed opinions on the machine.
I'd like to see one up close to see if it was put together any better than the supermatic. ---better parts and tolerances.
On a different note ---- Has anyone tried Pam (A cooking spray) on the cutter to keep the tobacco from sticking?
I've got two questions Did it work?
&did it taste like chicken?

The Top-O-Matic is an excellent machine. Heavier with a bit stiffer internals. It is good that a second company is producing such injectors as they are extremely important to the MYO industry and its patrons.
See a review at http://www.ryomagazine.com/injectors.htm |

Only problem I have with RYO is that you still fund the antis. Any taxes paid on tobacco helps fund the torment.
When my smokes show up......I laugh. I laugh because those four cartons are $100.00 into my retirement fund. I laugh because the antis are out at least $.25 (my best guess at their take) per pack. I am not funding any of their BS.
So roll on |
