I can count the number of number of premades cigs, that I've smoked since switching to SYO, on one hand. It'll be two years, next month, for a savings of over $4500 for my wife and I.

Thanks guys for your advice.

I appreciate it. Thanks to Roland's website, I am going start making my own cigarettes.

One question: which brand sells the strongest? I have a lot more cigarettes if the cigarette is not strong enough...

but thanks again,

dkim

The strongest tobacco I've tried so far is Mynheer American blend. It tastes good and definitely makes its presence felt. It is availale here:

Originally I too wanted to mimic Marlboro Lights, but after some experimenting that idea faded fast. The tobaccos one can buy for MYO are significantly better and fresher than the corporate butts and without all the various additives. One becomes a connessieur of their own custom smokes and experimentation leads you to a whole new smoking experience.

I like a lighter smoke, but with some texture and depth. I use a blend of about 75% McCLintock Light and 25% Stokkebye London Export.

The particuliar tube you use will make a very large difference too. Don't underestimate the impact of the tubes. The quality of the paper, the # of laser holes etc all impact the burn and the smoke.

After using many different tubes I have found either Zig Zag Lights or Top Light tubes to be best for me. Your mileage may vary.

I inject with Premiers Supermatic, the blue and gray metal one and I keep a Supermatic II as a back-up. Injecting a pack takes about 10 minutes. Use disposable latex gloves. Good luck.

Another real handy thing are the "Smokey" flip-top cigarette cases....good looking and strong. Well made and about $5 bucks each. I get most of my stuff from pipesandcigars.com they have great prices and service and very fast shipping.

Seriously, if you like a smooth smoke, give the "Gambler Light" tubes a try. I have been using them for about a month now. I originally got them because my shop was out of my normal Zig Zag or Premier tubes, and these were only $1.59 a box.

I was amazed at how smooth the Gambler lights tasted.

Just a suggestion, but I was sold on Zig Zag, now when I smoke a MYO with Zig Zag they taste harsh.

My 2 cents

I agree on the tubes making a big difference I'm sold on Vera Cruz

------For those using lite papers------

Did you know that by using light tobacco and packing a little tighter that you can achieve the same effect with a regular paper tube
( If not lite enough take a pin and adjust with enough holes til it's just right Wink )

Whats the gloves for? If you're worried about someone lifting prints-----
if they're smoked properly I don't believe that will be a problem Wink Laughing Laughing

Hey Jack, I don't know what brand you smoke, but I have a feeling you may be paying too much for your tobacco and supplies. I did a quick price check and compared pipesandcigars.com to Lil' Brown, PnC's prices are higher on most things.

The Smokey case for $5.00 freakin dollars was my first clue. The Gas Station near my work has them for $2.25.

Lil' Brown also has flat rate shipping of $7.00. https://www.lilbrown.com/index.cfm

Check out the link in my sig to the Stuff Your Own website. There are a bunch of retailers listed with reviews of each. I currently buy from RYO Tobacco. There is also a ton of helpful info.

I can't find tobacco anywhere. My local CVS used to carry tins of Top tobacco (which I've been getting) and pouches of Bugler. They no longer carry ANY form of rolling tobacco. I called a number of stores around my area asking if they carried tobacco, and none of them do. Does anyone know of any major chains that usually sell rolling tobacco?
