I'm never going to order cigarettes online again. I joined the RYO gang! Thank you again for being braver than anybody else here! Whew! Yesterday was my deadline to answer the letter. This has been the looooooooongest month of my life. Now I can get on with it.
At least until you get the Taxes due letter. |

| Nope, GUEST is best of the West, North, East & South. He/she will be tops forever! Now that I know that 2 guys in black suits from the FBI or CIA or wherever won't be showing up at my door to haul me away in handcuffs, with my nosey neighbor watching & taking notes, a tax bill will be nothing compared to that. Income Tax return is coming in & I'll have to rob from Peter & Pau to pay Uncle Sam if he shows up. I hate that Uncle Sam of ours!!! |

As Guest123 did, I called the number on my letter as well the other day. Being inherintly paranoid, I did it from a pay phone, which took forever to find
Anyway, same result as Guest123. The woman, whose name I did not get because I could not understand it, told me to ignore the letter completely if I wanted to forfeit the cigarettes.
Coincidentally, that same afternoon I received my credit card statement. My $94.xx credit from Yesmoke came through for the same cigarettes that were seized. So technically they really aren't my cigarettes any longer
Folks, I would say to relax about this letter and just ignore it. Write to yesmoke and get a credit.
The big question is what to do from here. I've been ordering from the Indians, but it seems this might come to an end soon too. If they remit to the Jenkins Act, NJ will bill me up the wazoo. The tax here is $2.50/PACK. Kentucky here I come!! 8O |

I received a letter from customs about a carton seized Nov 17,2004 on June 07, 2005.
As if I would want this carton of smokes that has been in the hangar from Nov until June....bunch of Aholes....not for me any longer anyway having been reimbursed by the seller.
They sent the notice FEDEX and required a signature, just a heads up if you get letter from Fedex to ask who it is from first, why should you give anyone the satisfaction of having you sign for unsolicited mail.
Our government agencies in action at warp speed. |

That was just to let me know they seized them and I could file to claim them, THEY RETURNED NOTHING.
I just don't get sending the letter in a Fedex 8 x 11 mailer at 2 or 3 bucks to let me know they seized 10 packs of smokes valued at 10 bucks.
If I had known it was from the ATF I would have refused to sign, not that signing makes any difference but why give them that satisfaction of any acknowledgement. |

| I don't know, I never got one, but I woudn't mess with the gov't. Once you get the tax bill you better sign and pay or hire an attorney. |

| I would at least request written proof showing that the government does know that you purchased what they say you purchased. Unless you just know it's accurate. At least make them show you proof, or move to a different state. |
