| The cig tax in MI is $2.00, and you were paying 20 cents a pack in TN. MI also has higher settlement payments. It's time to find an alternative method to buying cigs in the store. |

Ok, I know I smell horrible, but I'm sure you smell much worse. I may die younger than you, but I wouldn't die younger if I wasn't a smoker. I would develop an overeating disorder or have to be on depression meds if it wasn't for cigs. I'd rather die younger than be a zombie on antidepressants. I'm proud of who I am. I'm a proud smoker. You're the loser. You don't understand that you're here for a finite period of time, so the marginal difference of 5 years or even 50 years isn't at all significant in the big picture. If you want to go around worrying about everything that may kill you, you may live an extra 5 years or so. Good for you. Where is that gonna get you? The one gaurantee you get in life is that you WILL die. I will too; I don't know when nor how. It may be of a car crash tomorrow, or lung cancer 50 years from now, but I WILL die so I want to enjoy life. I will not change my habits if they help me to enjoy life right now. The future doesn't matter, because you don't know how long it is. My personal belief is that we all have a set time when our clock runs out, so our actions don't matter. I believe something like the lifeline on the palm. Now I hope that you can understand that you are the loser now. I pity your poor soul. |

Well said, Tom! I wonder if this person who thinks we all "smell horrible" is contributing to the foul air from automotive (or SUV) exhaust? Why isn't s/he and other tobacco nazis worried about this type of carbon monoxide? It is interesting that asthma has become a near epidemic in the U.S., but smoking rates have dropped a bit. Could it be the cars and the pollution from coal buring power plants?? Certainly NOT! Tobacco is the ONLY evil that surrounds us, right?! That's just the mindset these executives and politicians want people to have, and tobacco nazis have taken the bait...big time! Politicians are "so concerned" over the health of society, yet do little to help old people (and everyone) with the hyper inflated cost of medicine.
As far as longevity goes, I have seen one scientific study/report that found that cigar smokers lived LONGER than non-smokers. Even though cigar smokers did loose a few years, they still outlived tobacco nazis! No word on cigarettes.
Regarding Philip Morris, perhaps this falls into the classification of "there is no such thing as negative publicity" when it comes to marketing. They just want to get on TV and mention "cigarettes". Still, they sound like a bunch of humps! |

I think Philip Morris is playing the good vs evil game with cigarettes. They have Altria fight for the anti smokers while PM still fights for smokers in Richmond, VA. They go further by allowing altria to use the PM name in their campains. I've visited the massive factory. Although I couldn't go in, they had cigarette baloons, a large tower with all their cigarettes. It was clear that Philip Morris meant tobacco. They influence the lawmakers in Richmond reject all smoking ban issues, and keep the excise taxes off. Through this hypocracy, they fight for smokers on their turf, but for antismokers everywhere else. When you don't know what you're fighting for, you're evil. PM is an evil company.

Stock symbol MO, a good performing stock.
My wife owns it and wanted to dump it due to her objection to smoking.
Her broker-"why would you want to dump one of the best stocks?"
You are right it is an evil company- either kill us with their Marlboros or their Velveeta Cheese-LOL! |
