I just found out that we lost our title for having the highest cigarette excise tax. RI now holds the record at $2.46 per pack. VA also seems to have raised their tax from 2.5 cents a pack to 20 cents a pack. Nof KY has the lowest excise tax at 3 cents a pack. What a high increase VA had from a quarter a carton to $2.00 a carton. That's a shame.

Currently, in Wisconsin, the tax is 77 cents, and the Legislature (bastards) wants to raise it another $1.00 to help "curb smoking." If this passes, a carton here will cost over $40.00, and that's at the discount places! Fortunately we also have a lot of Indian reservations where they can be bought tax-free.

Yes, I love it that living in Kentucky we are number one in something good for a change, a 3 cent a pack cigarette tax. However, the governor proposed raising it to a scandolous 34 cents a pack, luckily the state legislature realizes that almost half of our smoke sells are to out-of-staters, so it will probably be about a dime raise in the tax. Now if I could just get rid of this damn smoking ban in the city of Lexington, a ban that hasn't come close to passing in any other KY city thank God.
