Ok see I am not a smoker and never have been But thats my choice! Just as smoking if you are over 18 is a choice. No one is forcing you to spend a whole crapload of money on ciggarretes it is a choice! I think it is an infringment on personal rights too. Whats next, the government saying where and when you are allowed to take a dump? Its coming to that. Sure I think smoking should be discuraged but the extent that the government is taking to make it illegal just about anywhere to smoke is absolutely wrong. My husband owns a small business with 5 employees, all but one of them smoke, his mother and she doesn't mind it, now he will be fined if caught smoking in his business or if anyone reports that they smelled smoking. THAT IS SO WRONG!!!! That is an abuse of his rights. It is his business and if he allows smoking in his business then the government shouldn't have the right to say he can't in his business. Same goes for any small business owner. I think the saying that waitresses in restaurants and bars shouldn't have to work in that type of environment is a BIG BS! there were plenty of places a waitress can work which is or has non smoking. And a bar..... HELLO... thats what people do there, smoke and drink! I just find the whole thing so incredibly terrible and VERY VERY FRIGHTENING!!!! just my thoughts what are yours?

I think all of this business is INSANE over smoking! IT is not even about smoking it is nothing but a back door for the gov. to take away the rights of citizens and private business owners.

This whole battle started when the EPA decided to classify "secondhand smoke," a term unheard of until about 1990 by most of us, as a "Class A Carcinogen." The EPA actually had to change the definition of a "Class A Carcinogen" to include shs in this group. My best guess is that they were pressured by people who don't like the smell of smoke ("Every time I go out to the bars, my clothes stink!") Blah, blah, Well, you know who I mean. The self-righteous control freaks. Nazis if you will. I'm not a scientist or biologist. I'm a writer. But anybody with a minimal amount of appreciable intelligence should have enough common sense to realize that the smoke coming from a cigarette or exhaled by the person smoking it, usually several feet away in a restaurant, as an example, is not going to affect them. It is so diluted that it virtually evaporates into nothing within seconds. It's no more dangerous than a lit candle at the pulpit in a church. Of course, in a bar or casino, many people smoke, and the smoke is multiplied several times over that from a single smoker, but even so, studies that the Anti's don't want you to see show that nonsmokers are exposed to such a minute fraction of this that it would take several centuries to become equivalent to what a direct smoker takes in. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the last time I checked, humans only live about 80 years or so on average. For instance, airlines got onto this bandwagon of discrimination early on to, as they claim, "protect the flight attendants." Well, a study determined that a flight attendant would have to spend 48,000 hours within the confines of a cabin to "smoke" the equivalent of ONE cigarette. To put it into perspective, the attendant would have to work full-time for a period of about 24 years before he/she would "smoke" 1 cigarette. During their whole career, they would smoke a little over two cigarettes. You know what is really ironic? Since the airlines chose to treat smokers like lepers by banning smoking, a passenger is now over 20 times as likely to contract an airborne virus or bacterial infection because the air within the cabin is not recirculated as often as it was when smoking was allowed. I HATE flying. I've always wanted to see Europe, but there is no F-ing way I'm going to go 8-10 hours without a smoke. I guess I'll have to wait until they develop a jet that cruises at about Mach 3. To conclude and to answer your question about my thoughts, I see a bleak future for those who smoke unless the powers that be come out and admit that this whole thing is one of the biggest hoaxes in history. I can actually see children being taken away from smoking parents some day, or being arrested for
assault with a deadly weapon if you smoke within a specified parameter of someone. Fifteen or twenty years ago, this would have been laughable, but Big Brother is watching you. I could go on and on, but this would turn into a book.....................................................
