What is your point Bamse? I can only guess what it might be but I want to hear it from you...

yes there are many things that are bad in this world that people shouldn't be doing, but cigarette smoking affects others very directly. Even some things are ok to do in moderation. But in no way is cigarette smoking ok for anyone or even as second-hand smoke. And, I agree with you that with some chronic diseases some people have to take things in moderation or avoid them completely. But, how do you compare it to cigarette smoking?

I won't answer for Bamse but IMHO I think the point is your claim to be a nurse.

I frankly have never meet a nurse with your bedside manner.

Nancy,

I am beginning to understand why you were greeted with immediate hostility by some on this board.
It is becoming apparent you are attempting to hijack this board as your pulpit for your own opinions concerning smoking.
Go preach on the GASP board, you are not this board's Pit Bull.

I may have wrongly given GASP a bad rap, I see their activities are more against smoke stack emissions, diesel exhaust and major air polluters.

With apoligies to GASP allow me to direct you to ASS, ASH I mean, I,m sure you'll meet many fanatical like minded folks there who you can agree with on everything.

Hummmmm: That would be me!

Nancy is entitled to her opinions and for that matter so is everyone else! The reason(s) I greeted her with hostility is because I don't believe she is a nurse and if I am wrong and she is I really hope I am never under her care!
Her comment about parents smoking around kids being guilty of child abuse was absurd!

By the way Nancy, studies have found there is no direct link between caffeine and Sudden infant death syndrome!

Also, through 2 pregnancies my wifes OBGYN told her he would prefer if she did not attempt to quit smoking but rather cut it back to 5-10 cigarettes a day. Studies he read found stress is a bigger contributor to birth defects than a light casual smoker!
He also felt that most of today's studies are 1 sided and inflated to appease the non smokers.
By the way, he never smoked a day in his life and he can't stand it!

My point NANCY! is that no one shoves a ciggarrete in your mouth. IT IS A CHOICE!!!! and it is a freedom whether or not to choke ourselves with smoke that is being taken away! If you go to a place that allows smoking and you don't like it then you have the CHOICE to leave or stay RIGHT?! The freedom whether or not my establishment allows smoking or not should be up to the owner of the establishment and not the crazy government. Thats my point! Like I said before I am not a smoker and never have been but I have been around second hand smoke my whole life and be damn... I am fine no emphazima or cancer or heart disease... and for the record I am one of those, supposeedly, most at risk!
