I think smokinjoe is the one who is full of crap - I doubt you're a smoker.

And if you don't smoke, START.

The rising cost alone is good reason to not start, it just makes no sense to get addicted knowing that you will be at the mercy of the no mercy taxation people.
Could it be you are thinking that the more smokers there are the more power we will have?

Now you should know by now that there's always a way around the unfair tax increases. There always will be a way too. When one door opens, another few open. Your second comment about the me thinking the more smokers, the more power we'll have is true. I do believe that people who are over 18 who want to smoke SHOULD start. There are many reasons to start smoking; they fall into these 3 catagories, mental, spiritual, and physical. If you are a true smoker you should understand that without any further explanation. Now I will take your so called "high road" when someone says they're under 18 and they want to start smoking, because I know I must respect the law or pay the price.

Unfortunately, I am a hardcore smoker and love my smokes and most likely will use my last breath to puff on a cigarette.
My philosopy is "no way are any of us getting out of this life alive" and by smoking we could be missing out on those golden nursing home years.

But if someone asks about the virtues of smoking it just isn't right to encourage it.

Do your kids smoke? Did you encourage it? Did you buy smokes for them?
Please tell me you didn't encourage smoking with you loved ones just so you didn't have to be subjected to the anti-smoking rhetoric I am.
Selective deafness works too.

I am the only smoker in my non-smoking family and as such am always getting the "you should quit" , "when you gonna quit", "you,re paying how much for cigarettes", "you know thats not good for you" or "you smell like an ashtray".

If your family says those things to you then they must not love you. Tell them to accept your hobby!

Nate, to be telling that person their family must not love them is none of your dam business. And if they are telling them they should stop smoking, they are saying it because they care and its for their own good!

Now Nancy, Nate could have a point.
They may just want to keep me around for a free babysitter for the grand kids when I could be enjoying the peace and quiet of a hole in the ground. Wink

LOL - what is with all these anonymous non-smokers? Why bother responding to them - since they didn't validate their account, this could be the same person posting over and over again under a different name (and I'm way too lazy to check the IP logs) Smile

"Now you should know by now that there's always a way around the unfair tax increases. There always will be a way too."

Tom,

I have to disagree with this statement, I found this board when my online cigarettes didn't show up and I searched online for news concerning cigarettes.
Now I am down to MYO as a last resort to not pay those taxes.
You are reading here where our compadres in other states are getting tax bills for their past online orders.
This is not a new struggle, for many years I have been manuvering to avoid high cigarette taxes: the commissary, buying out of state, online, etc.
MYO is the last stand, it is the bottom!
I appreciate the info from this board concerning how to MYO and the whereabouts of the smokes I ordered online and never received but the attitude from you and the moderator of the board seems to be as rabidly prosmoking as a GASP bulletin board is rabidly antismoking.
I support smoker's rights being one myself in spite of BWilliams absurd allegations I am not and probably smoked while he was still breast feeding.
I find it morally irresponsible to encourage someone to start whether they are 18 or 81.
I truly enjoy my smoking, it is not just the nicotine, if it were the patch would be 100% effective.
Since workplaces have moved smoking places outdoors something interesting came to light: I found I had new break buddies, people who hadn't smoked in 30 years hitchhiking on my second hand smoke because they love the smell and in spite of not smoking for over 30 years still craved it.
This says that once you start smoking you are onboard for life and should be considered very carefully before ever starting.

To Tom: Thats the first step...at least your admitting that you'll end up in a hole in the ground sooner with smoking. Glad to see your not denying that smoking kills you like many others on this forum.

To Nate: You couldn't find anything intelligent to say?

To B. Williams: No, I just started coming on today. You got an interesting forum though. So far no one has been able to give me though any intelligent reasons why they smoke.
