I am prescribed Paxil for panic attacks and Xanax for stress. Just the other day I went to see my doctor because I was suffering a severe panic attack. I noticed at the bottom of the page where it gives instructions that he had written "stop smoking before considering Paxil and Xanax refills."
I consider this a threat and also descrimination. These are medications that I have to take.
I have contacted the action line at the hospital to report his remarks. Since when can a doctor refuse your medications because you are a smoker. Sure would like to file a law suit against this!!!!! |

| Interesting situation. Though i can see him having capability to say that on your info, if smoking has an adverse reaction with those drugs. |

| It should be a pure patient/doc relationship based on facts in doc's file.Or maybe it is the insurance co dictating to the doc. You should look up all your prescription drugs and view the possible side effects, however,if you have been taking these drugs for a long period with no side effects, tell your doc.If your doc still won't renew, find out why, if it's smoking, ask doc for evidence, then maybe get a new doc who will renew. |

| Been on zanax for 20 years and smoked - has no impact, this is an outrage...just more discrimination IMHO. |

SUE HIS ASS! three things could happen:
*It would be settled out of court via personal apology and/or significantly more relaxed prescription refills
*It would move up in the courts up until it reaches the top, where the constitutionality of such discrimination would be questioned and hopefully illegalized(may require significant time and resources on your part)
*you could lose the case due to doctors having lots of expensive attorneys.... |
