Everyone needs to understand that in 1998, the gov't redefined the definition of 'overweight' and 'obese' by lowering the already arbitrary BMI threshold that had been established. 30 million people went to bed one night with a government approved BMI and woke up to find themselves in the crosshairs of the obesity warriors.
Any stats that compare todays 'obesity' rates to any pre-1998 rates are skewed and meaningless. |
