i'm using a gambler 100mm hand injector to load my zen 100mm tubes. i've got the portion size and packing technique pretty much down, but i'm having problems with getting all of the tobacco into the tube.
i make sure to pack the tobacco evenly, however a good portion (about 3 out of 5) of my smokes have no tobacco near the filter. i've also noticed that a lot of the tobacco will sit in the tip of the injector when i pull off the tube, leaving the end empty as well.
so what i wind up with are a bunch of smokes with tobacco in the middle, but none in the tip and none by the filter. not exactly a high quality smoke, and it's wasting my tobacco which is ticking me off. i'm thinking that if i had king size tubes there would be no problem, and that the "100mm" injector is just a label and that it is not designed for 100mms at all.
anyone have a solution to these problems? i'm willing to get a better injector but i havent been able to find any other 100mm injectors. if anyone could point me toward a reliable 100mm injector that would be appreciated also. thanks! |

The larger crank injectors can be set for 100's - Supermatic (one model I believe) and Topomatic. They run roughly $35-$50, depending on where you buy them and which model.
I'll get a void many times right before the filter, with the crank injectors, for me, it's usually an issue of compacted tobacco at the end of the spoon getting stuck and I need to dig it out of there.
I always tamp down my cigarettes after 15 or so injected - I grab the pile and tamp them all at once saving time - and I'm also terrible at tamping cigarettes one at a time  Especially if there's a large void - almost impossible to tamp them down neatly individually.
This time of year I don't mind the 'short' cigarettes - I save my 'shorties' for standing out in the cold for a quick smoke - bonus: I don't waste tobacco  |

Instead of tamping each cigarette one at a time to get the tobacco to settle down and compact into the tube, I grab @ 15-20 at a time in my hand and tap them down on a hard surface around 5-10 times (depending on how loose the tobacco is and how big the void may be near the filter). Let them fall quickly within your fist, grab them and keep repeating, let gravity do its work.
Somewhat like when some people have a fresh pack of cigarettes and they tap the whole pack (filter down) before they open it. Instead of the cigs in a pack - they are loose.

| When stuffing a filter tube with tobacco using a hand held injector, I stuff the tube about half full and use a right angled hollow setscrew key to push and pack the tobacco into the void at the filter end, then finish stuffing the tube. |
