I'm working on a documentary for a Korean national TV channel.
This documentary is about debate between smoking ban and smoking right.
I'm looking for volunteers who live in Calabasas, CA and are willing to participate in our project.
We will film smokers' lives in Calabasas and want to show the audience how difficult it might be.
Please contact me at markmskim@gmail.com.
Thanks,
Mark |

I don't live in Calabasas but I hope you can find people for that documentary. The WHO treaty is a global initiative and no country is going to escape it. Maybe if Koreans and people in other countries get involved and show their outrage before the whole thing gains momentum, the antismoking movement will lose some of its steam.
Keep in mind, these people implement tiny changes that smokers don't object to at first in their effort to take away people's right to smoke. Once the changes start, they keep going and going until they're threatening your right to smoke in your own home. It never stops.
Good luck with your documentary. |

From Canada.
Very recently enacted laws banned smoking outdoors in all parks and playgrounds in Halifax. The largest city
in the Province of Nova Scotia.
The outdoor bans is a growing trend here and this is the latest and as of yet involves the biggest city.
Quote: Keep in mind, these people implement tiny changes that smokers don't object to at first in their effort to take away people's right to smoke. Once the changes start, they keep going and going until they're threatening your right to smoke in your own home. It never stops.
Speaking about smokers right to smoke in their home, The Peel Region Health Board this week called upon the Province of Ontario to ban smoking in all apartment and condominium buildings. Yes folks, We are talking about inside of peoples homes. No doubt, names like Peel Region sound unfamiliar to people on this board and to "markmskim" but the 5th largest city in Canada is one of the three cities which belong to Peel Region, while Ontario have the largest population in Canada.
Recently a truck driver was given a $305 ticket for smoking in his own truck while while driving on a highway.
Wonder if " markmskim " might not be interested about getting in touch with a civil liberty organization in Canada which has been fighting this issue in Canada for many years now. Should be interested, will pass on this post to them.
Some information could possibly be interesting for makers of a documentary about impacts of smoking bans even though it is in an other country.
Remember, Canada is considered by the WHO to be the great success story of tobacco control while ignoring, downplaying and marginalizing smokers and civil liberty organizations who dare to speak up against it while financing anti smoking and smoker groups which are becoming ever more intolerant. A sort of state financed promotion of intolerance against its own people.
Just in case any interest shown, I figured to mention this.
Sounds like the mentioned documentary will be a balanced view about the lives of people been affected by extremists laws, rules and regulations using the health card. Should that be the case it is a much welcomed media involvement.
Not something common in North America for a while now. Balanced coverage by the media about smoking and tobacco became extinct in Canada while getting on the endangered list in the US.

flex That's the part that makes me the angriest. The US government is supposed to serve the people, not inflict harm and psychological abuse on its own citizens, as they have done against smokers.
The people behind tobacco control apparently do not understand that power is an illusion. It exists only by mutual agreement. In other words, as long as I cooperate with your belief that you have the power to make me do something, you can exercise that power. The illusion of power will be created as you order me around and I obey.
But if I wake up one day and decide that I am not going to do what you say, then your illusory power over me evaporates.
Most people buy into the illusion of power without thinking because others around them are doing it. They don't realize that power has no inherent existence. It's a construct of the mind that persists only as long as people continue to believe in it.
The only form of power that's real is physical force, which is why power struggles so often lead to violence. |
