Have you ever seen runamok and JoshNJ argue? I don't think so.

I have no evil twin in here.

How can you be so sure? Some of them might have been cross-posters.

Hey Waxangelwings. Cool nickname.

For what it's worth your girlfriend is gonna have to be "waked up". Confused

For fifty years we've been lied to about Tobacco. When Anti-smoking groups found that it was not stopping smokers from smoking, they went after the non-smokers. Hence the new lie about Second Hand Smoke. There is not one actual study that shows SHS causes harm.

Check out this link.
The Health Benefits of Smoking Tobacco.

And thats just the tip of the iceberg.
Over at The Freedom To Choose Forums (U.K.) theres a 12 page thread about the benefits of Tobacco.

You might have to join to read I think.

Hi, my name is Monica and I am 25 years old. I had my first cigarette when I was 16. I am still smoking today despite the fact that everyone around me wants me to quit, including my fiance. She says that she will not be in a long-term relationship with a smoker and is making me give it up by the beginning of next year. Ugh.
One more thing you might want to consider when making decisions about your future. When you are with this person, do you feel better or worse about yourself than when you're alone? That's a very important question. A good relationship makes you feel supported and loved for who you are. It's a warning sign if you feel like you are inferior to the other person and must make changes to be good enough for them.

If you feel that way and the other person takes advantage of it, you will constantly be in a one-down position. There won't be an equal footing because the other person will somehow manage to make you feel deficient and bad about yourself all the time.

There could be more going on here than just the smoking issue. As other posters said, it could be more about power and control than smoking.

If a lady ever told me to quit smoking if I wanna stay in a relationship with her, I'd tell her "In dat case, it's over with us."

I ain't gonna let someone control me, and try to let her use my love for her as a way of controlling me. How I feel as a person is more important than my love for ANY woman. Dat's why I make it clear I smoke when meeting new ladies period. If you can't handle talking with a smoker on Day 1 with me, you can walk out of the door right now so to speak.

But since my friend is an actual smoker herself, I don't have to worry about hearing a threat like dat from her (on "Quit smoking for our friendship'"). She believes quitting should be a personal choice for her and otha individual smokers. Unfortnately, too many folks are brainwashed into thinking smoking can ruin happiness between two people.
