Blow by Blow
this is what we are up against.

"Prevent All Cigarette Trafficking Act of 2009" or "PACT Act".
    (b) Findings.--Congress finds that--
    (1) the sale of illegal cigarettes and smokeless tobacco products significantly reduces Federal, State, and local government revenues, with Internet sales alone accounting for billions of dollars of lost Federal, State, and local tobacco tax revenue each year;
    (2) Hezbollah, Hamas, al Qaeda, and other terrorist organizations have profited from trafficking in illegal cigarettes or counterfeit cigarette tax stamps;

Lol you got to love this. al Qaeda!!!!
Smokers are now supporting terrorists?
come on.

The bill is to stop online vendors here in America from selling tobacco products and then shipping it with DHL and UPS to other states. Where the hell does al Qaeda operate from, North Carolina?
There is no way they can collect Taxes from international sellers and as we know they already have been after those who buy cigarettes from international online businesses so this bill has nothing to do with smuggling or terrorists.

God I hate it when they include the old Terrorist scare tactic into everything.

Here is another quote from this idiot.
"This is not only a matter of revenue, though, Mr. Speaker. This is also the source for a black market that has emerged that, according to the GAO, has allowed organizations as nefarious as Hezbollah to make the money on the float: buying tobacco, say, in South Carolina, driving it to Michigan, taking money that they saved by not charging people the tax, and taking that money and exporting it to fund terrorist activities. That is not a hypothetical. That's something that the GAO actually found to have happened"

OMG Hezbollah is operating in South Carolina!!!!!
LOL
Nobody even called this idiot on his crap.
If he knows Hezbollah is in South Carolina isn't that a bigger problem than working on a way to get Hezbollah to report internet sales to the States so they can collect the taxes?

I think we should start writing him and asking what he intends to do about terrorist operating in the US.

If cigarette smuggling is funding terrorism, then all government officials need to do to find out who's to blame is go look in the mirror. There seems to be no limit to the amount of time and energy they are willing to expend in order to hide the simple truth from themselves. They are the ones who passed the outrageous taxes and made smokers angry enough to approach illegal suppliers. Most smokers would be happy to play by the rules if the government would just stop making their lives hell.
