I wrote a fairly detailed guide about roll your own to get more people informed about it. Im do roll my own cigarettes however I am no expert on the subject. I would like some of the people here to check it out if they could so as to see if I am missing anything or wrong about anything.

If you think its fairly accurate let me know or if you feel I should ad or remove something let me know. My prices on that page are just averages. Im from tennessee and thats about the norm here. I also factored in using pipe tobaccos to roll with as well.

I just want the most informative page I can make so as to help others start rolling their own and avoid the insane cost of paying 5 dollars a pack.

You are regionalizing your article by having the cost at 'up to' $5. Put a range in there for the whole country. $5 to $10 per pack.(In New England average brand-name is $7.50)

For a pound of tobacco (RYO) I'm getting @ 2 1/2 cartons.

Not all RYO/Pipe Tobacco is made equal - there's a lot of crap out there too that mimic commercial cigarettes in their ingredients.

Thanks. I will change the info as to how many cigarettes per pound as well as the prices of a pack or carton of cigarettes to make it more nationwide.

I like to write little pages like this to share around. Sometimes I get a good page that gets a lot of views and other times they just linger at the bottom of google. The key is to share it though so it gets spread around and others share it.

After I started rolling my own I really saw how much money was to be saved and realized there really was nothing out there that put a lot of easy info on what you need as well as prices and how to do it all in one place. I thought it might be helpful to some people.

I have not found this to be the case. For lights finding the right tube can take a bit of experimentation as the same tobacco can smoke quite differently depending on the tube. Filter length can influence both taste and how well an injector fills the tube (voids at the filter). Not all folks use machines with adjustable release mechanisms. It certainly is a fine, though pricey, machine.

Has anyone tried one of these new PowerMatic 2 electric machines yet? Looks promising as it apparently does away with the auger and uses a "spoon" stuffing method. The price seems too cheap though @ $99.00. As with all the electrics the description reads nice...but does it deliver?

Ive been stuffing my own for..oh...about five days now. I have learned a few fairly expensive lessons.

(1) The electric machines like the one on your video are junk. Every two tubes I made, I had to lift the cheap plastic cover and insert more tobbacco, of course this went on until the middle of the second pack and the plastic cover broke at the tabs. After reading CHINA on the bottom of the machine, I continued while holding the cover down.I rolled almost three packs before the stainless tube shot out across the floor. Upon looking over the design, I unscrewed the screws that kept the Tube in the machine and guess what ? Plastic came out with the screws meaning the machine was now rendered useless....or is it ? I utilized some handy super glue and after a few hours of drying ( just in case ) I continued. Again the tube shot across the floor ( by the way, the tube smokes after about the fith or sixth tube stuffed and says so in the instructions...they tell you its normal and just let it cool down a bit ) As they stated above in the above previous post, the spring "grinds" to make the tobacco spiral into the tube. This heating up of the tube ( too hot to the touch ) causes the tube to spin around and shoot out of the machine. I wont even get in to the failed attempt within 24 hours of ownership of returning the machine to the local "discount tobbaco store"....you know who runs most of those.

I did enjoy the smoke my new found discovery...so I ventured out to find a better machine. I stumbled into a high class type cigar shop that told me where to go to buy from some folks "In the know" and were a bunch of good guys. I traveled to a place called Puff N Stuff outside metro Atlanta and they laughed at my story about the machine and told me there are always gimmics like that one in this RYO/MYO world and that Brown & Williams ? own all the good tobbacco stuffer/roller/cig machine patents out there..over 200 of them, and although none on the market are "fantstic", I should go with one of the tried and true machines like the ones the guys mentioned above. I choose the supermatic 2 and after 20 minutes on the machine learning how much tobacco to put in, I can stuff 5 times faster than that piece of junk electric machine..no kidding. I can do 40 cigs in about 15 minutes....and that is just the second day I used the machine ( today in fact )

(2) While there at the REAL cigar/tobbaco store, he asked what brands I have been rolling. I told him Gambler, Bugler, Top, some local crap, and even tried prince albert, half and half, and carter hall ( I didnt know any better ). Again he smiled and he rolled me up one of these and one of those..( Stokley, D&R, ) and I was blown away. He then smiled again and asked.." Better than those "top selling" discount tobbaco store brands ? I just hung my head down and told him thanks for all the help...bought a pound of Stokely norwegion blend ( smooth pipe ).... a few tubes...the reportedly "tried and true" Premier supermatic 2....AND NOW IM A HAPPY SMOKER WITH NO HEADACHES AND COUGHS AND NAUSEA !!!!!

This is the kind of story that needs to be in your blog.... Jongilbert1 35 year Marlboro Red 100 kind of guy.....the carpet glue in the paper was the last straw !!!!
