O.K. gil, I'll sum up my views, but I'm not going to talk politics here.

I prefer to piss off people here. I am "GoodbyePorkPieHat". Ignore the thread with my name on it - that was a "throw away", and you have to have some background to get it. BTW, you have to put about 50 people/sockpuppets/trolls on "Ignore", and then it's a good board. Depending on the day or my mood or whether I drank some booze or smoked some weed, I either get accused of being "a damn Lib" or "a *beep*ing Con". I'm actually a Radical Moderate/Extreme Centrist who voted Libertarian in '08, even though I care not for either Ron Paul or Babar. FWIW, I think Rush and Hannity are major assholes and that Maher, Stewart, Colbert, and Lewis Black are funny - and that Dennis Miller used to be - about 15 years ago.

And that's all I have to say about that.

Ditto on that. I have just begun the process of putting together a communication to him concerning the plight of smokers. I will be working on it for awhile because I need it to be fairly short but it has to touch on a lot of subjects including the fraudulent science and the property rights/constitutional issues and I don't want to come off sounding like a lunatic.

I suspect Beck is the only talking head that might even consider doing a segment (maybe a whole show? I can dream) that exposes the fraud and the money trail. We'll see.

Good idea but instead of trying to touch on the enormity of the anti-smoking movement, which could be overwhelming, I think I'll ask him to explain the logic behind Obama's SCHIP. How can smoker taxes fund SCHIP when smokers are told higher taxes are an incentive to quit? How can smoker taxes fund SCHIP when the program is already short 20 million smokers? If SCHIP is to succeed, it will need much more than just smoker taxes. Is SCHIP a foot in the back door approach to socialized health care? After all, health care for poor kids is just one step away from health care for poor adults.

It's quite the conundrum, isn't it, Pete?

However, with "pipe tobacco" becoming the new RYO 'baccy, perhaps it will be safe for a while since cigars and pipes are what "the elite" smoke. The working poor got SCHIP-canned - probably didn't even know that the price of their Top or Gambler would double overnight, but folks like Rush and The Governator smoke cigars, and even though they can afford it, they would whine bigtime if that happened to them.

Good idea. And while you're at it, mention the fact that smokers are financing a health insurance program which they cannot sign up for, if they have no minor children. It would make more sense to funnel cig taxes into a special insurance program for unemployed smokers. That would actually be a reasonable solution to the problem of smoking-related health care costs. People who paid the tax would be investing in a program for themselves, which is how the tax system is supposed to work.

It would probably help if you used the phrase "nanny state" in your letter to Glenn Beck. He's against that.

Keep in mind he's a reformed alcoholic and drug addict, and would probably be in favor of funneling the cig tax money directly into a fund to pay smokers' health costs instead of having those costs added into the cost of everyone else's health insurance premiums.

Better yet, why don't you and others tell him yourself. There's strength in numbers.

# Glenn Beck: me@glennbeck.com
This is the general contact for reaching Glenn Beck. Please note that Glenn gets hundreds of emails everyday and while he does read them he does not always have the opportunity to answer them all.

or / and

# Stu: stu@glennbeck.com
Stu is the Executive Producer and Head Writer for the Glenn Beck Program.
