Yep, that's what their ad says; however, you have to sign for each delivery and if the government audits them...they have your name and you'll be responsible for four years worth of tobacco taxes. Sorry, I'd trust the black market first."
I've been ordering from Native Outlet for awhile and do Not sign for my ciggs. I signed for my first few orders, but after that told them I did not want that option, and thus I no longer sign for them.
They have done very well by me, and have had very good customer service. |

there's a bunch of sites that sell tobacco by the pound.
Just google-search RYO tobacco and you'll find them... |

I guess this online MYO shop is not one of the best shops to most of the posters on here who make/roll their own cigs. |

that stuffyourown site only sells Golden Harvest [yuck]- Although, pretty decent price.(Should be cheaper though- that stuff was $10/lb before SCHIP)
I have bought from:
Lil Brown Smoke Shack
Custom Blends
D&R Tobacco/Trish's
All good outfits
Buying loose tobacco on the internet is not illegal - yet - and they all pay the SCHIP Fed tax.
Many pipe tobacco blends can be smoked in a variety of ways |

They carry a very limited range of tobacco. Never could find what I wanted there, other than tubes or accessories. |

| Two sites I use/have used: buydiscountcigarettes.com and a goodcigarette.com. The latter is the cheaper of the two and accepts Visa. The first one takes checks, but not credit cards. |

First off... Hi everyone. Name's Angelo, based out of Boston. Spent a little bit poking around the site before posting and it's good to see some like-minded people.
So here's my story... Just flew back from Cali (first time in almost a year) and I'm outraged at how much they're charging back here! I'd heard of SCHIP before, but $8-10 a pack in MA?! yeesh... (After poking around on the threads a tiny bit, I would like to look deeper into growing my own, but I'm sure I'll have to wait until next summer for that.)
In the meantime, went back to RYO and found out that most of my favorite brands are no longer available here. There's no Drum or Bali Shag, and even American Spirit is extremely hard to find (then there's the cost). Retailers have told me this is because since SCHIP, prices have doubled so local distributors and retailers alike won't sell anything but Bugler (yuck).

Long story short, I was reading this thread and found a few sites posted that seemed pretty safe, but I just wanted to make sure. So is this statement above still true? If I buy RYO from US internet retailers, with whom I'm sure I don't pay state taxes, am I safe from the Man here in Mass?
I'd love to find some local retailers, but that would be really tough. I could probably catch a ride to New Hampshire once in a while, but at $50 a carton or $8 for a 1.4oz bag of Drum it would hardly be worth the gas money (especially because I'm pretty broke right now :/).
Sorry for the long winded post - in the future I'll try to keep them more brief. |

In a nutshell - YES.
Until.....the state jacks up the state tax on RYO and will have an incentive to hunt you down and slap a bill on you.(which could happen)
Right now the state tax is very little - they won't waste their time scouring those records yet - and even if they did it won't be that much and you can enjoy RYO variety on the internet even if they hunt you down- It will not be a lot of $.
Two I use are Custom Blends and Lil Brown Smoke Shack, lots of other good RYO providers on the net.
Another avenue is to check out small convenience stores, many understand that RYO is still cheaper and if the customer base is enticed - they will buy. Usually their varieties are junk because the wholesalers aren't offering that many quality products anymore. You can also see if they will order specially for you. |
