|
Well, yet another year,and another Gencon game fair. BUT this time, it is the first year i have booked a room (unlike in years prior i am not getting a room commped due to running games) and it was booked via Expedia as a smoking one. Exactly like in june, this hotel has gone to all non smoking rooms and did not do anything to notify me, let alone comp me for the false booking.
So this is yet another hotel going on my never stay in again list.
The Sheradon downtown indy.
Crowne plaza downtown columbus
Any you guys wish to add, so we all know which ones to avoid? |

I think I'd track down where the problem started and if it was the hotel's fault for not reporting the change in policy then I would sue, though maybe only small claims court.
Did the incident cost you more money than the amount you saved through Expedia if any? |

| So far, the Sheradon (where i am at currently) has at least placed me in a room on the 9th floor which is adjacent to the pool deck, which is open for smoking (well off to the side), so while i cannot smoke IN the room, i just need to pop out. The Other one in Ohio, i had to go down from the 13th floor all the way outside to do so. |

Definitely avoid ALL Marriott hotels, Comfort Suites(although all other Choice Hotel brands still offer smoking rooms), and Westin hotels. There are other chains you should totally avoid, but they aren't coming to my mind as of this second. (they will later)
Too many of the upscale chains have stupidly backed the antis, and've eliminated all smoking rooms! It's sad it really seems like Hilton is one of the only upscale chains left that still offers smoking rooms, although I really hate how they've made a sizable minority of Hampton Inns smoke-free. |

I wonder if that father of my friend I mentioned in an other thread(gruesome cigarette packaging, toilet, empty cigarette pack) ever stayed there?

AVIS, BUDGET TO OFFER 100% SMOKE-FREE FLEET. Avis Budget Group says that beginning next month, Avis and Budget rental vehicles in the U.S. and Canada will be smoke- free under a new policy that takes effect Oct. 1. "Tobacco smoke leaves a residue on fabric, fibers and surfaces of vehicles, which omits odors that many people find unpleasant," said Larry De Shon, executive vice president of operations for Avis Budget Group. 'In fact, we receive more customer requests for smoke-free vehicles than any other "special request." To ensure compliance with the new smoke-free policy, Avis and Budget have established a new inspection process and will assess customers a cleaning fee if the vehicle is returned with a tobacco odor or residue.  So if enough of us complain of an unpleasant fart smell in their cars, they will eventually ban farting??? WTF? |

This info is just in time.
Need to rent a truck to help a friend move some small furniture next week.
Budget been my choice the last 6 times rented a car/van/truck.
Not this time or anytime in the future.

| I found it was cheaper to rent a Uhall for a quick move of stuff rather than renting a truck from avis or any other car agency... |
