Why is arizona included in that list?

I included it, since voters in that state passed a comprehensive ban that was placed on the ballot, plus the state's cigarette tax was increased by 80 cents up to $2 a pack(which was a hidden part of that referendum that was NOT publicized at all when Proposition 201 came up for a November 2006 vote), besides banning smoking in ALL businesses). Not a state that's anywhere near smoker-friendly, if you ask me.

And while I wish Nevada voters had not passed any type of state smoking ban(they approved a referendum ban at the same time Arizona did), at least the proposition that made the ballot had the damn sense to exempt bars not serving food(and the food loophole is thankfully one many bars ignore, with BYO food policies), and casinos. I easily know which state out of those 2 I'd rather travel to.....

In Massachusetts cigarettes are now about $7.50/pack. I remember back in the early 90's, working at a convenience store when brand names were a little under $2. It seems these days every politician with no creativity or common sense and the need to pay for some kind of "beneficial project" will propose raising the cigarette tax. Even though I don't smoke, I am of the opinion that this is ethically wrong. Considering the utter disregard and lack of respect smokers are given, it is shameful, sleazy and immoral to continually gouge them for money. I don't think any organization/politician hostile to smokers should see a dime of funding from cigarettes. Either let someone smoke in peace and dignity, enjoying something that makes them happy or take a hike and take your tax hikes with you.

The guy that wants to up the tax to $1.50 in California is Alex Padilla, the worst Nanny Legislator in existence. The same guy that now wants to add a soda tax and wants calorie content signs at fast food joints. The guy is an insufferable control freak.

I happen to think he is vulnerable to dis-election and I wrote about it on my site. Think about it, it's one thing to single out us 20% but now he's adding what?, 75% (soda pop drinkers) to the mix. How do you win after pissing off that many voters?

Read all about Alex Padilla. Funny pictures, too.
