If anyone lives in or knows people who live in Louisiana, please pass the word about this site. It's urgent now....The bill got out of committee and is going to a full House vote this Friday.
Also, for those of us who don't live in Louisiana, we may be able to help out by sending info/studies to help them argue against this meddling by the antis and the Nanny(n) State.

This bill thankfully died by a HUGE margin in the Louisiana House earlier this year(albeit it unfortunately passed the Louisiana Senate, so many cheers to Louisiana House lawmakers!

I wish this group luck in trying to fight a tobacco tax increase, which unfortunately I believe is still alive in their legislature.... |

| All smokers in my state ( Louisiana) need to contact our represetatives, state and federal that the numbers they use are false. The real contribution to the state is not just the revenue produced by cigarette taxes. Smokers also pay the tobacco settlement payments, (over 1.4 billion dollars a year) not the tobacco companies. We also pay the wages of all those people who distribute and sell those products. They pay taxes on there wages, sales taxes ,etc. We don't get credited with any of that by the antis. |
