TOO.............................................................BAD!!
Swiped this from Speakeasy-believe they were one of the first amusement parks to ban smokers.

guess that what happens when they try to exclude 20% of the population smokefree zones how is that really working for these companies
Six Flags seeks Chapt. 11 bankruptcy protection
NEW YORK (AP) - The amusement park company Six Flags is seeking Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, saying it needs to reorganize and shed $1.8 billion of debt.
Mark Shapiro, the New York-based company's chief executive officer, says the move won't affect the operation of its 20 theme parks in the U.S., Mexico and Canada.
Six Flags says it actually had a great year in 2008. It saw 25 million visitors and posted record revenues. But executives are trying to lighten a $2.4 billion debt load that they say is unsustainable.
Saturday's bankruptcy filing came after an earlier plan to negotiate an out-of-court deal with creditors failed.
Six Flags shares have traded below $1 since September. They closed at 26 cents on Friday. |

It's just one more thing that makes me wonder how much economic damage the tobacco taxes and bans have done to the general economy. The damage is basically hidden because there's no way to track how much less money smokers are spending on general goods and services, and which goods and services are being most affected.
But you know there has to be a significant effect when 20% of the population has less disposable income and also are less motivated to visit the businesses where smoking is banned. It's damaging a lot more than just the tobacco-related retailers and bars. |

ANd you can take it to the bank, the antis will do everything to wash over those figures...
And imo it is more than 20% of the pop that smokes. |

THANK YOU. I've said that for more than a decade, just based on the sheer amount of tobacco products sold cross-country, while realizing the percentage will vary from area to area. They want to make you feel small, unimportant, and powerless, hence the 20% claim. |

Smoking rate up from 27% to 29% since 2002
Found this on another forum --------- I don't think that they know ---.Just like all their "facts" -they make them up.
The opinion of some have it that the "TAX" has people quitting without considering, that many like myself, have bought over a years supply and have tobacco growing as we speak.

In fact, due to people's emotional response and the natural tendency to rebel, it wouldn't surprise me if people actually smoked more after the increase. When you think somebody is trying to take something away from you, it makes you all the more determined to hang onto it. |

It's VERY EASILY over 20%, especially if you count those who smoke socially, and not regularly! If you also count those people, we easily make closer to 25%-30% in many states, and probably over 33% in states with the highest smoking rates(i.e. Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, etc.). |
