Hm well this FSC thing is making me crazy. Anybody out there roll their own? I smoked Drum back in college, but that has a very different flavor to the Marlboro Reds that I smoke now. Plus I like having a filter. So I guess my questions are:
1) Are there cigarette tobaccos out there that taste like Marlboro Red for self-rolling?
2) Is there a device or something that can roll with a filter?
...I have definitely had a much shorter temper since these things came out. I quit drinking recently and the smokes are such a big help with that, and now every time I light up I get pissed off... I'd be interested in anyone's opinions on self-rolling brands, gear, experiences, whatever. I'll go look on the web, but firsthand experience and personal opinions are always more helpful.
What a drag. A big part of why I stopped smoking Drum was because rolling is a hassle... |

I just started rolling my own and was very pleased with myself. There's all different kinds of tubes (I picked up Gambler 100 Lights, cuz they were staring me in the face lol). I bought a manual injector for like five bucks, and because I smoked American Spirit, I purchased their tobacco.
It's been eons since I smoked Marlboro so I wouldn't know its equivolent in tobacco. But the clerk in the tobacco store told me that the pipe tobacco that they're cutting now is similar to Marlboro, according to her customers. I bought a 12 oz bag for a little over 12 bucks. It's called Golden Harvest. Btw... the same size in cig tobacco by that company is 80 bucks.
Anyways... I grabbed the full strength and it's kinda strong for me. But it does come in light and ultra light so I might try it again. |

thanks very much for the info! Drum had kind of a "rubbery" flavor to me, which I got tired of. Basically I'm just looking for something that has some flavor but doesn't make me choke. Since you mentioned American Spirit, I've heard about that maybe I'll give it a try.
And I found machines and tubes with filters and stuff online, so I'm stoked. There was even a demonstration video and with the injector machines it does not look anything like the hassle of handrolling.
Thanks much for the post! |

| To my knowledge the tubes are not YET FSC. But it will say FSC in the barcode if they are. Just like the prepacked cigs. |

Tsujiban,
First let me say welcome to the forum.
Try the RYO threads and uncover a world of info --------- some of us have been here a while and have covered
a little bit of everything concerning the machines, tobacco, and tubes of RYO.
I'd say that once you find a smoke and tube combo, that you'll throw rocks at the pre-mades.

Thanks JohnC. I will check that stuff out. I got a pack of American Spirits this morning and threw the half carton of FSC Marlboros in the garbage. They're so nasty I'm not even going to give them away.
I look forward to checking out the RYO stuff, and learning more about growing my own tobacco too. Thanks for the suggestion! |

Tsujiban, there are a couple of sites that will get you well on your way to making your own [MYO]that look like commercial cigarettes:
http://www.ryomagazine.com/injectors.htm
RYO Magazine has all the info to get you started, link here is to the injector page.
Check out the multi media pages too - very helpful
