| According to my "dealer" (*laughing) the papers contain the fire safe material so, even if you RYO, aren't you rolling them in fire safe paper? |

Perhaps I should try to explain my question further and let you know where I’m coming from. I am quite aware that it is cheaper (and better IMO) to make your own cigs. That is why after following previous discussions on FSC’s that I decided to begin stocking up on tubes and tobacco. By the way Lynda, if you see this, you actually were somewhat of an inspiration for that…thanks! My question deals with the fact that I believe certain chemicals are being added to the paper for the purpose of directing smokers to the (much) higher taxed loose tobacco and not so much ready-mades. I know some opinions have been made as to the reason for this is so we will be forced into buying ready-mades as opposed to loose tobacco. I believe the opposite to be true. I have been watching here in Lincoln, Nebraska as to when FSC’s are being sold and it just recently has begun. I got a pack by accident and by the time I realized I was smoking them I was having chest pains, sore throat, and headaches and couldn’t make the connection until recently. I am trying to find out exactly what is being added to cigs to make them fire safe so maybe we can show they are trying to force us into going for the higher taxed items (or just trying to kill us off)! I was buying cigs in packs before this waiting until I had to break into my stash…the time has come. I no longer buy that crap. I hope it’s not true that tubes are going to this also as I only have enough to last about a year. I plan on going to a pipe if necessary to avoid this stuff. Thanks for any info and thanks for listening to this rather long rant.

NO. RYO tubes are NOT FSC. Not yet anyway. |

NO. RYO tubes are NOT FSC. Not yet anyway.
Well, they will be. BTW...I was told by my supplier that certain cigs being sold here are already made fire safe. I tried one and the ash fell off and burnt a frickin' hole in my carpet. Fire Safe, indeed!

| Hey jellytoad, I don't think that Big Tobacco is releasing their "recipe" for FSC just yet but try Googling Napthalene and FSC. This will give you a better idea of what smokers are being forced to inhale. Ironic that this chemical requires breathing protection during the manufacturing process! A couple of industrial uses for Napthalene are mothballs and fire retardant insulation. The mothballs must be where the delicious flavor comes from. |

They filter out a lot of the gunk in smoke. At first when I started using these, it seemed like I was smoking nothing. But now I'm used to them and never smoke without my cigarette holder.
Who knows whether or not it's safer? Probably there is something deadly in the crystals, but it might be worth a try if the FSCs are irritating your throat. |
