Hi Tom,
In the FAQ of the site I ordered the Premier Injector and tobacco from, it suggested allowing the tobacco to dry out a bit before trying to make cigs. Do you normally leave your tobacco out to air for a little while before you make your own? |

| If the tobacco feels very moist out of the container I let it air out a bit. This is usually necessary with tobacco in canisters. Just don't let it dry out to the point where it crumbles. I usually pull out a pile of tobacco and let it sit out for half an hour or so then start stuffing. While you are making cigs the tobacco will continue to dry out. |

Oh, OK Irishguy-Thanks. I was thinking you had to leave it out to air for a few hours. Glad I asked first! |

Well-Made my first round of 5 packs last night. Seems to me the trick is to figure out how much tobacco to put in the chamber! I have the Premier stuffer-For those of you who use that one-do you generally pack the tobacco in the chamber (push it down a bit), or do you stuff it losely? I had a hard time finding the balance between too much tobacco, and too little-which made a "loose" feeling cigarette.
Also-I presently smoke Marlboro Lights-I found that Midnight Special Tobacco for sale online-Do any of you use "light" tubes and how much of a difference does that make in the taste?
I ordered regular tubes with a light tobacco with my starter kit, and it's definitely not a bad tasting smoke-(I was impressed actually that I could "make" a decent tasting cigarette at home), but it's still a little stronger than what I'm used to.
Any help/suggestions/input for this MYO newbie would be welcomed!
Thanks again for the suggestion to try the MYO route. I've found a new way to save a significant chunk of change.

Pat,
Good question about the White Light tips, I was planning on asking that also because my wife smokes Marlboro Lights.
I had the same reaction as you did in regards to making my own! I actually enjoy smoking more now that I'm making more
Hey, how long did it take you to do the 5 packs?

Hi Charles,
It took me about 2 hours, that included wacking them on the table one at a time to pack them. I noticed I was getting faster at it as I went along, though. I made the mistake of using the more powdery stuff from the bottom of the pile of tobacco I took out, and jammed the machine a couple of times. Overall it was kind of fun though.
How'd you make out for a first timer? |

| What is the best kind of tobacco and where can I find tobacco makers in Canada, in Toronto specifically? |

| I also have the premier supermatic. It takes me about 30-45 min for a carton. I got it down pat pretty well now. There's no need to press the tobacco in the supermatic chamber, because the chamber on that machine is oversized. Don't pack, just fill it all the way. If you're using kins size tubes, keep the setting on king size. I've used light tubes. The zig zag lite tubes are excelent, but hard to find in stores. I only saw them in stores in PA. The common tubes in stores are bugler, tops, and premier. |

Thanks, Tom. 45 minutes for a carton! You must have a pretty good system.
There were no instructions with the machine as to whether or not to press the tobacco in the chamber or not. I'll try just filling it without pressing it into the chamber next round. You can get premier lite tubes at http://www.cigarettetobacco.com. Though if you are not buying tobacco from them too-it's not worth the shipping cost just to order tubes.
M-I found a few local stores that have MYO products-one is a new "smoke shop" within walking distance of my house that I just visited yesterday for the first time-the other is a "tobacconist" in a local mall. Is there a tobaccinist, or "smoke shop" in Toronto?-might want to check them first.
Also-you can order online-though I'm not sure what sites ship to Canada, or what the "customs" rules are where you live.
I ordered my starter kit from the URL above. The shipping was quick, and the tobacco was fresh and made a decent tasting smoke. |

Pat,
I guess I have either 6 or 7 packs done. I too am smacking them on the table to pack them and then I have about 1/4 inch of space at the end.
Overall I really enjoy it! It has been somewhat therapeutic to me. I hang out and watch tv and stuff a bunch of smokes. I haven't really timed myself but if I had to guess I would think the count is between 20-30 an hour. I have to tamp (pack) the tobacco in the stuffer before it can be injected into the tube, I guess that is the difference between the hand stuffer and the Supermatic.
Tom,
Let me get this straight, you are making a carton of cigs. every 30-45 minutes? Hey, If I supply you with tobacco and tubes what hourly rate are you charging? |
