As some of you know the CigarBoy Legal Advisor lives in Nebraska and we are getting married in the fall. I am going to be living in NE, that is the good news. The bad news as I wrote about a few months ago is that the NE Senate voted to ban smoking and it was passed with a veto proof majority. It takes affect in June.
As some of you may know I quit eating out and going to bars in OH when they banned smoking two years ago. It has worked great, I only eat out in N. KY which is about five miles from the CigarBoy Bachelor Pad and Sports Museum.
Anyway my solution to the smoking ban in Nebraska is similiar, in that I refuse to eat out or spend money in a bar as long as they have a smoking ban.
So..............I am going to build a sports bar in our house. It will have four 46 " flat screen TVs with Direct TV including the MLB, NFL and College Basketball packages. It will have a table and chairs, a couch (suitable for napping) and two big leather Easy Boy type chairs. I will make sure the CBLC has everything she needs to make the food we like to eat including a deep fryer so I can eat my cheese fries. There will be a big refridge there too so we don't have to make trips to the main kitchen. The bathroom will have a urinal trough (women will have to use the regular bathroom). I will have some cool neon light sports logos on the wall to give it some sports mood lighting. There will be ashtrays spaced about every two feet too!
It will be my fortress. I will not have to leave home except to work or do things outside. I will have plenty of guns to enforce my pro-smoking rules too.
Screw the World. |

| There is more (MUCH MORE) of this home entertainment deal going on than you think. Back when I was a kid, up through the eighties, getting together at each others homes for regular parties was common and plentiful in america. Then came the Nazis, and the selfish yuppies, and the practice of entertaining in the home literally died. Now, primarily with smokers and their non-smoking but tolerant friends, it's becoming the next big underground economy in the states. |

Hey Cigarboy! Welcome to Nebraska! The legislature just passed an EXEMPTION in the state for cigar bars. (Hope if flies) Your bar setup sounds good...if you're in Lincoln I'll have to look you up!
Cheers!

Yes, the CigarBoy Legal Counsel worked hard on that one. She kept me informed during the process. That is a start, I hope we can chip away at the ban over the next few years.
I know at this point we will live in Papillion, in Sarby County, at least for awhile. I don't know if I will work in Lincoln or Omaha.
I will have you over for a game sometime!
Here is a true story. When Mike Johanns was the gov, the Senate was trying like heck to raise taxes and Johanns vetoed them all. They finally got enough votes to pass a tobacco tax. The CBLC managed to get the "CigarBoy Exemption" put into the bill exempting cigars from the tax. So I have that going for me.

The CBLC sent me an e-mail last week saying the GOV did sign the bill.
She had to work him over a little. He does not smoke or drink so he did not really care if anyone else does. He is generally pretty good on most issues, but needs a little help on a few of the personal freedom isues. |
