Yes people. I quit. It's not because I necessarily wanted to. I JUST REFUSE to pay the new government extortion that went into effect on 4/1/09 of this year. Originally, I was planning to order 20 more lbs of my preferred ryo at $12 a pound prior to the new government extortion rates taking effect, as well as getting some seeds for the spring. Before I placed those orders, I happened to bump into e-smoking. I ordered an electronic cigarette kit, while continuing to read up on electronic cigarettes. It soon became clear the FDA, who can't even manage to keep the damn food supply safe, was busying themselves issuing statements that the electronic cigarettes and e-liquids containing nicotine were 'new drugs' and illegal. I promptly placed an order for a large quantity of 24 mg nicotine solution from China, along with flavorings, glycerine, etc, so that I could mix up my own liquids and would have plenty on hand should the FDA decide to crap on the electronic cigarette party.

After e-smoking for 4 weeks, while smoking 2-4 ryo per day, I managed to sell of the rest of my tobacco to an out of state friend. It was in this past week that I next discovered Camel snus. Interesting product, although it does not compare at all to Swedish snus, from what I understand. In any event, the snus began to become my primary form of nicotine replacement, while the e-smoking faded somewhat into the background. Having rather enjoyed the Camel snus, in spite of the artifically sweet flavorings, I placed an order for the real thing from Sweden, ordering a total of 11 cans, each of which contain 20 portions. Given I am only consuming 2 portions a day, the $45 bucks and change I spent on the Swedish snus, should last me anywhere from 90-110 days.

In other words, I am QUITE well stocked presently, as far as my nicotine needs. I have enough supplies for at least a year or two, as far as e-smoking, no matter what the FDA should do. I also have plenty of snus to last a few months, before I need to re-order again. I did not smoke a cigarette on Monday, yesterday, nor today. I am finally past the physical, hand-to-mouth, part of the smoking addiction. Of course, whenever I have a snus portion in my mouth, I don't even think of cigarettes any more.

This does NOT mean I am anti-smoking. I am still pro-smoking. I still step outside when my friends smoke. I am still pro-freedom and very much still anti-nanny-government-knows-what-is-best-for-us-so-thank-god-they-exist-to-wipe-the-drool-from-our-faces. I simply REFUSE to pay extortion to the government in the form of the new tobacco taxes or further support such corrupt, inane and anti-freedom-of-choice policies.

As a result, I still support EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU HERE, BUT MOST ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO ARE GROWING YOUR OWN! PLEASE KEEP UP THE GOOD FIGHT! GROW YOUR OWN AND DO NOT GIVE SO MUCH AS ONE MORE DIME TO THE INFLUENCE-PEDDLING WHORES ON CAPITOL HILL!

Hey, whatever you do is your business. I'm just tickled pink you found a way to keep your money from those crooks. I'm trying to grow my own. They get NO TAX!

Hey good news. Since I have started rolling my own, I actually like my cigs better, but at the same time, I am smoking less for some reason. I hope it leads that way soon, at least I have more money now. Glad you were able to do it!!

While I think it's great you managed to quit, I'm just sorry you quit for the wrong reasons.

By quitting, you have given them exactly what they want. They want us to either pay their extortion OR quit.

I refuse to give them either!

Government really doesn't want us to quit unless of course we switch to nico-cessation so their Pharma pals get a piece of the action.

Quitting cold turkey in protest does not mean quitting permanently. It's simply a tactic of not feeding the beast until it withers and dies. GYO, e-cigs, bootleg cigs are just as effective.

I beg to differ! I did it correctly. One can QUIT smoking without quitting tobacco. In this way, the government receives NO reward for the new taxes.

They get not one dime in tobacco tax from me now.

They get no extortion, I get my snus. Problem solved.

I quit cigarettes, but not tobacco.

I wholeheartedly support EVERY SINGLE ONE of the above options and strongly suggest ALL of my fellow tobacco users resort to any and all of the above, depending on which suits you best.
