| A friend of mine, tried someone elses tobacco, and she asked what it was, shed never had soft wet tobacco before. He told her of a shop that sells mixed tobacco and labels it pipe tobacco to not have to pay the higher taxes on tobacco. That was in TN. Is this anyones heard of before, is it true, that pipe tobaccos did not get a tax increase. What is the dif besides that it is not cut as cigarette tobacco. Is this something to do, buy it as pipe tobacco and cut it up yourself. Sorry I am new to this, so I just dont know anything about it. Any comments? Answers? |

Pipe tobacco is cut rougher/thicker than RYO smoking tobacco [which are more like threads]
Pipe tobacco, as long as it isn't topped too much with flavorings, will smoke as good as RYO tobacco. It may require some further chopping/shredding and allow to dry out a bit before injecting or rolling.
For the most part, with a 'natural' non-aromatic pipe tobacco - that's the difference.
RYO tobacco tax is now $24.78/lb
Pipe tobacco tax is @$2 bucks/lb |

IF I could find a pipe tobacco that I actually like the smell of, I would consider mixing also. But I can't stand the smell of pipes and cigars to be honest. |

Then why the link to a site that is NOT D&R? IF D&R is still selling, I'll go directly to them. |

Lynda - that is D&R - they split up the business April 1st
One site sells injectors-tubes papers - the other site sells their new Pipe Tobacco line. |

But why did they split the site then? I read they were not selling cigarette tobacco as of April 1st. I didn't see any mention about a separate site to sell the injectors, etc. But then, I hadn't been back there since mid march when I saw their announcement.
Thanks for the info, Gilster! |

It's D&R but the sites are split with the two daughters names
http://www.smoke-n-chew.com/
Trisha's cafe sells pipe cut tobacco and pipe accessories
http://www.cigarettetobacco.com/
Bec's Accessories sells RYO/MYO supplies and no tobacco
They split the site because they are not selling cigarette cut tobacco anymore, so as not to confuse their customers. Two separate companies. |
