I'm not really sure why it was on here, but I removed the curse and swear word censor fromt the forum. Now you can say words like shit and fuck if you want - but of course, let's all be adult and not get into any trouble!

But why is it necessary to curse? If one has command of the English language, there's no need to use a frickin curse word for cripes sake. hehehe. Sorry, I tried to curse and couldn't.

I totally agree! Sometimes it is just a good vent of anger...........and a harmless one at that. Of course, if Ewok had a spine, he'd present him/herself to me so I could see just how much of a sadist I really have in me................. Laughing

I seem to remember Bill saying something about the search engines potentially ignoring sites that have certain curse words and that if that happened, Smoking Lobby wouldn't turn up in searches by smokers looking for a place to get information and to vent.

That may be true, but I personally am sick and tired of all this political correctness which is nothing more than censorship.

Words don't hurt anyone unless someone chooses to allow themselves to take offense.

Of course, there is also such a thing as overkill........which really does detract from what is being said.....like using the eff word 6 times in a 20 word sentence.

Just to set the record straight, I never agreed with or liked the policy.

It is true that search engines don't like it but they only block the page which the curse word is on not the whole site. So if you want your topic and post such as news stories, to be indexed and found by others on the internet, don't curse in that thread. Otherwise the page will be invisible to Google and Yahoo.
Of course, anti-smokers or people fighting against smokers may come here and try and sabotage the site by cusring on every post, but until we have a problem with that, I don't see any reason to filter out adult language. Smoking is an adult hobby!
