As mentioned in another thread------The TAXES have proved to be the STRAW!
Any info on sources, and mixes, will help a herd of people that use this forum.
I've thought of growing my own, but that will be at least a year off.
The one site I've looked at is www.coffinails.com Have any of you used them? If so what were the results?

| You don't have to grow your own just yet. I make my own for about $10 a carton. I like this midnight special tobacco. It has a blend of american tobacco, and the turkish that gives it the taste of marlboro lights. If you like stronger tobacco, you can mix it with the bugler blend. Bugler's almost all turkish, so you have that strong flavor like marlboro lights. I like midnight special the best. They also have a great menthol if that fits your mood. Just never buy sixty 1 tobacco. It's all american tobacco, and that's no good at all. It's a terrible mix of burley and bright. There's this company gambler that makes really good light tobacco, but it's hard to find in NJ. For tubes, I use premier. They're the cheapest, and not bad. My injector is the premier supermatic injector. It runs about $50. You can find it online. A couple of sites I found are www.cigarettetobacco.com and www.stuffyourown.com. I think the first is more reliable. I bought my machine from an e bay vendor who's not there anymore. You can also buy all sorts of tobacco online. What you make can be better or worse quality than what you smoke now. If you buy custom blends, that's better, sixty one is worse. Either way, you should never go over $2.00 for 20 cigarettes. |

Tom,
Where do you shop in NJ. Do you know of any places around the Clifton area?
Thanks

| I live right by you in Wayne. A place I go to is Smokers warehouse on 46W in Totowa between office max and Calico Kitchen. Call them at (973) 785-2040 before you go. Sometimes she runs out of stuff. She doesn't carry the premier injector, but she has the hand stuffers. That's a good start, but it's a lot harder. |

Thanks Tom! I'm going to go there on Saturday.
I might try the hand stuffer first before I buy the Premier!
Thanks again. |

Hi Tom,
I ordered a starter kit from cigarettetobacco.com, and chose the premier supermatic injector. All I have to do is make 1.5 cartons of smokes, and then I'm "even" for my startup costs. Thanks for the suggestion.
I also found a couple of local tobacconist shops I can check out. Now 14 oz. of "loose tobacco" comes with the starter kit-Anyone know if I'm supposed to pay taxes on loose tobacco ordered out of state?
BTW-Is the general "rule of thumb" 6oz of tobacco makes roughly 1 carton? Because if that's the case-then the starter kit will more than pay for itself with the initial amount of tobacco and tubes. |

| 6 oz makes a carton. You should pay out of state tax on loose tobacco, but most states don't bother. In NJ, for example, it's only 30%. They're ont gonna bust people for $3.00/bag when they can get $30 per carton with less investigative work. |

Thanks again Tom-Hey-to all you NY smokers-you can get the "premier injector" and enough tobacco and tubes to make 2 plus cartons, for the cost of 1 carton of name brand cigarettes in NY-including shipping. Depending on how you look at it-it's like getting 1 carton of cigs, and the injector for free. To heck with the state, and their abusive and oppressive taxes.
Now I suppose I'll have a few questions when my kit arrives on Tuesday.......... |

Hey Tom,
I stopped by the smokers warehouse on Saturday and picked up 6oz of midnight special, 200 Bugler tubes and a bugler hand stuffer. Total price with tax was a little of $18.00 dollars and I actually like the midnight special flavor. So, each time I go back in the future it will probably cost me about $12.00.
Using the Bugler hand stuffer is a little time consuming but I really don't mind, especially since I will now be paying less money per carton than I was paying when ordering through Yesmoke. I probably will order the Supermatic soon but I was wondering what advantage there was to it.
Can you load more tobacco in it or is it the same as the hand stuffer (1 cig at a time)? Also, does it pack the end of the cig. tight or is the tobacco somewhat loose at the end (which is what I am experiencing with the hand stuffer). Maybe, I just need more practice?
Thanks again for the tip!

| The hand stuffer is just harder to ues. You're probably using too much tobacco if the ends of your cigs are loose. The premier supermatic has 3 settings for cig tubes. It saves a lot of time, and there are less broken cigarettes. Wth the premier, it's much easier to pack the perfect cig. |
