Hello,
I live in a fairly small city called Arnold in Missouri. Our city council just passed a law banning all smoking in restaraunts, bar and grills. I am trying to fight the council to have this law repealed. The city council decided this, not the public. I have tried to find laws that protect smokers rights but am having problems locating them. I found this message board by accident doing research. I have been looking into discrimation of smokers based on addiction of nicotine being a disability (hence by federal law, no one can discriminate against anyone with a disability) As it stands now, the ADA (the american with disabilities act) has determined that smoking is addictive like alcoholism (alcoholism is listed as a disability). They are taking this information before congress.
Can anyone show me some links of repealed smoke free laws or any solid impact studies showing how businesses have lost money or went out of business because of these bans. Any information would be a great help. Thank you very much and have a pleasant weekend.
I can be emailed at StannardCo@aol.com
Thanks again |
