Hi all,
does anyone know if we can still buy from yesmoke (1 carton to NY) after the Kennedy airport issue? , seems that now everyone will get a customs due letter,
it's funny how they say it's ILLEGAL to sell cigarettes at their actual price, and them adding $4.00 in taxes per pack LEGAL.
also any good cheap source for clove cigarettes (kretek)?
thanks!

| Sorry, I don't have an answer to your question but do you have any reason to believe that it was Yesmoke's plane? They posted a link to the story on their web site but they did not mention whether it was (or was not) their plane. |

Quote: A cargo plane carrying 150,000 cartons of illegal cigarettes
I think it's still safe to buy cigs online. I don't think a swiss post plane or a usps plane is considered a cargo plane. By air cargo, I'm thinking it was a few mafia people each ordering crates of cigarettes. You're safe. I'm pretty sure they weren't destined to end users, because end users ordering a carton or 2 isn't illegal. It's probably a scare tactic the govt's using to get us to buy less cigs online. I saw no pictures, so who's to say it even happened. It could be a govt inspired press release. |

The post office does not have it's own planes, though but I don't think they would hire a plane with all or mostly cigarettes.
It might be legal to order 2 cartons but I wouldn't count on it not being picked up what with the anti-smoking bias around and current lack of integrity.
It's been 22 days since I ordered 2 shipments of 2 cartons and they have not arrived in California-My recent order took only 15 days.
It's probably OK to order from yesmokes but maybe another would be better since they are prominent. Any recommendations? |

Actually it was reported to be a DHL plane and the cigarettes were reported to be destined to end users all over the country. |

| Do you have a link to the article? Until I see DLH and end users, mentioned, I will believe this is the CIA making up a story to try to reduce online cig purchases by instilling fear. |

But sources tell Eyewitness News the investigation involves the importation of U.S. brand cigarettes from Switzerland via DHL. One of the planes landed this morning and its cargo was immediately seized by agents. The focus was with one Internet company. They have a website offering cigarettes directly to customers. The problem is that the cigarettes are re-packaged with a U.S. stamp and not being taxed to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars a year.
Also, under investigation are the recipients of the cigarettes. Some of the recipients may be reselling them illegally.

In this article they specifically mention Yespeedy/Otamedia, which is Yesmoke,
http://www.nypost.com/news/regionalnews/20683.htm
so they're probably going to hold all shipments so they can send customs letters to whoever ordered, and on the TV news they showed yesmoke's site and I heard they said that even people that ordered one carton MAY get a notice from customs, so I really don't know |

| The yesmoke suit mentioned in the article is a seperate matter from this seizure. That lawsuit was about not paying taxes, and had been going on for some time. Also, there are several vendors in Switzerland, not just yesmoke. I would be interested in learning more details of this case though. |
