Frankly, I personally have little problem with what you say. This country was built on rebellion and I wish a lot more people would get the spirit. However, remember there were serious personal consequences to many of those early rebels and never forget that while freedom of speech and other freedoms of action ostensibly exist, there is no freedom from the consequences of such actions. There are taxes, one way or another, on everything you use, including bread. And all of that tax revenue is used by a government who wants more control over your life.

Were I you, I would save a little of that retirement fund for legal expenses. No matter where you are getting your smokes tax free, your name is on some list. Unless you're picking them up at the dock using cash, (where you would likely be promptly arrested) too many people know who you are and what you buy. And whether your source is reservation shops or illegal imports, you will eventually hit someone's radar. And any belief that your sources are forever immune to disclosure of your patronage is naive.

The penalites can be a lot more severe than the current taxes and the penalties will go to the same entities yo wish to thwart, at least for a while longer. If instead you are buying black market product, you may be funding people far more dangerous in the long run than simpleton or greedy antis whose bumpkin approved pseudo science agenda will one day lay discredited and discarded by a majority of Americans. It's all happened before, over and over again for thousands of years in hundreds of cultures.

So laugh if you will, but unless you are getting pure tobacco in your sticks, you may not be laughing for as long as you should like. I hope your rebellion is wide reaching and successful. Just remember there are casualities of any war. One of single strongest excuses for (and oddly, against) the increasing taxes and regulation on cigarettes is contraband cigarette products.

Hiding behind trees and taking potshots at the British was a much better tactic than formationed frontal confrontations. It is a futile tact for the rebel of today who can so easily be tracked, the trees too easily made to disappear.

Only good science and real research, while fully illuminating the money trail will eventually prevail in this war and this war must be fought in the open. Worse, if people continue to abuse pseudo tobacco products by over consumption of chemical polluted products categorized as cigarettes, they only provide the enemy with more ammunition for future battles.

Certain native american (Indian) cultures hold tobacco in very high esteem and over consumption, contamination, or abuse is out of the question. Others unfortunately have no more connection with the tobacco they sell than the slot machines in their casinos. Deals were made with the government for them to have gambling and tobacco tax advantages. Those deals are worth only the paper they are written on - and governments are not particularly ethical nor trustworthy in their evaluation of paper or what's on it.

I wish you good fortune and a low radar profile.

Only problem I have with RYO is that you still fund the antis. Any taxes paid on tobacco helps fund the torment.

When my smokes show up......I laugh. I laugh because those four cartons are $100.00 into my retirement fund. I laugh because the antis are out at least $.25 (my best guess at their take) per pack. I am not funding any of their BS.

So roll on

Yet the "press" about buying "illegal" (if that is what they are) cigarettes is much more damaging "to the cause", then MYO.

My cost to MYO is approximately $7.65 per carton. I pay no delivery charges, and do not have to wonder if I will ever get "the letter".

My contibution to the MSA is almost nothing. If everyone did this and these groups were forced to live with budgets, just from the MSA payments and taxes collected from MYO'ers, they would be forced to cut staff and ad campaigns. Without those two things they die a certain death.

I really could care less how one "sticks it to the man", all I care is that the "stick" is sharp.

Bill just set up a forum for the RYO gang ----Now can you transfer some of the great tips on maintenance and repairs to the new one? Should be easier to find info than to go thru this 19 page thread.

You are talking about the one in Chicago area?

I had a problem with them a few years back. After a few weeks of calling and e-mails I got in touch with the guy that ran it (he's the one that you can almost understand his english Wink ) After two wrong shipments and 60 plus miles to return the merchandise (wouldn't send a pick-up order) we got square.
Since then I've been a regular with Lil' Brown Smoke Shop in Washington State ------
http://www.lilbrown.com/
very good service and dependable.

Hope ya get it straightened out ------ let us know

These are the two sites I use regularly and never have any problems with them. My orders arrive within one week - that's standard shipping.

http://www.ryotobacco.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc

http://www.pipesandcigars.com/ryocigprod.html

never heard of/used the site you use.

snarlcarl,

First I would see if I could straighten out the address mix-up with UPS ----- It happens.
Did they give you a tracking number?
If they have the package then tell them how to find your place.

The site says it's yahoo shopping ------ I'd post an inquiry with them and if that didn't work I'd go to the CC co. and file an Merchandise not received complaint.
