| That can tell me what places are banned from smoking in for each state.Sorry if this is a dumb question but I plan to do some traveling soon. |

Welcome to the Board
Not a dumb question, you pretty much need to research each location you are thinking about - I'd stay away from most towns in California - those bans change almost daily -[one day you can smoke on a sidewalk - the next, you can't]
Check out Wikipedia - I don't know how up to date it is:

Double check news articles for the places you are planning to visit.
Also, pay special heed to Hotel restrictions - stay away from Marriott.
And check all amusement park, parks and beach policies.
They can ban at a drop of the hat. |

You can also contact individual hotels and the local Chambers of Commerce. Most good hotels will have a toll free number you can call.
Some areas I can tell you for sure:
Hawaii - all hotels are currently 100% nonsmoking by law.
Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage and related areas in the Desert Communities, 100% nonsmoking (some will allow smoking for a grossly exhorbitant "cleaning" fee of $100-200 dollars to spray Febreeze in the room after you leave (duh!).
With regards to Hawaii, there is a state Senator there that is introducing legislation to reduce the law and allow hotels (at their discretion) to desginate a percentage of their rooms as smoking with appropriate ventilation and segregation requirements. Their economy has been HUGELY hit by the smoking ban that took effect last year, more so than many others due to their dependency on the tourism trade, so they are quickly feeling the heat of the ban there.
I'm going to Hawaii in 20 days with my husband and his mother (prepaid vacation setup before I got fired) so I'll update with any news after I get back and get more details while I'm there.

I'm working on it. Just started a new site that will rely heavily upon user submissions. There's not much there now (site is brand new), but if you know of any places to submit, you might want to have a look.

| In the state of oHEILo, you can't smoke anywhere inside except your car and your home-and they're working on that. Also starting to ban smokers OUTSIDE as well, especially in Columbus and cleveland. Stay away from this state and don't spend a dime here. As of this writing, Michigan , in a surprise turnaround from the norm, has banned smokers from smoking inside in most counties, but-allows you to smoke at ANY hospitality venue, including restaurants and bars, but the cRATS there are trying to get one. The RATS want exemptions for all state-run casinos (thought it didn't affect business?), repubs say it's all or nothing. Michigan has the worst unemployment of all 50 states. |
