I heard off of anotha smoking forum, some of these reality TV shows are blurring out people smoking on the shows. I mean like if say you see a chick holding a cig in her hand, what the show will do is blur out that cig as well as her hand. So they'll give viewers the impression that nobody smokes in the real world.

That is crazy on us living in a time where modern TV shows will go as far as blurring out cigs and the hands holding the cigs. I dunno how blurring out smoking will make viewers think nobody in this world smokes. I can walk around the corner and see people younga than me smoking. And I still see lots of adult smokers in downtown Chicago (although it's true you don't see as many adults smoking down there compared to say 10 years ago-even cops/security guards were smoking in public back then).

I guess they blurred out that chick's cig (on the reality show) cause the producers believed a smoking woman is obscene. That's freaked up thinking.

You don't see as many people smoking as you did ten years ago because there's almost nowhere left they can light up a smoke and not be a criminal. And most cops and security guards, firemen, etc; are no longer allowed to smoke on duty, at least-bad example for the children. I don't care what anyone says-smoking rates did begin to drop after say, the 60s,(I'm sure at least 50% of the public used tobacco in some form in the 50s, now it's more like 25-30%) but that leveled off about ten years ago, and have stayed relatively the same since. In fact, think I read somewhere that there's been a rise among teenagers. I'd be willing to bet the main reason for that is-their parents in most states can only smoke at home, therefore they pick the habit up quicker.

I am hooked on "Hell's Kitchen" and Gordon Ramsey's other show on BBC America.

When everyone is on their break - they are smoking.

The funny thing for me is when I see 'quit smoking' ads I light up, when I see a group of people on TV smoking - I don't.

Those percentages on smokers don't include smokers in the closet. And I'm sure lots of adults smoke in secret fashion.

If you wanna include underage smokers, the percent is probably close to 35 percent (when including closet smokers)

Maybe we ought to post messages that include the phrase "hot women" and google will find us?

By the way, I'm a Hot Woman. I'm hot because my freedoms are being curtailed minute by minute, law by law.

I echo that sentiment. My office thinks I'm against government, they just don't want to understand that what I am really against is being treated like an idiot and having my freedom of choice removed.

What can you expect from a bunch of weaklings born around 1975 and later?

Goddess save me from these asswipes!!!

I find that comment about 1975 to be mildly offensive!

I was born in 1987, and I smoke, drink whiskey, am not afraid to grow a beard! Which I do!

While I realize your comment was "tongue-in-cheek", I'd just like to say that you are more than entitled to feel offended all you want by anything at all.

On the other side of that same coin however, whoever has done the offending is equally entitled to not give a [doodee] if you are offended (especially when they are just stating their opinion and it is NOT deliberately rude or damaging).

Not trying to be rude here, but there is no right, constitutional or otherwise, to never feel offended.

(note: my own son was born in 1980.....so I'm an equal opportunity offender at least LOL)

And also in reference to all the anti smoking ads on TV - maybe if we're lucky, cable TV will loose subscribers and they'll cut this nonesense out when THEY start loosing money!
