Hi everyone.
I've been smoking cigars and pipes since I was 18; I started smoking cigarettes about 6 months ago. I started with camel straight pipes and then moved to lucky strikes, and messed around with various brands until I decided it was too expensive and would be easier to roll my own. Unfortunately I find that my rolling technique is pretty terrible, so rather than practice I bought a Top injector and some Golden Harvest cigarette tobacco and 500 unfiltered tubes.
Fast forward to now; I'm using zig-zag filtered tubes, Gambler tobacco, and the same Top injector.
I guess my question here is: Is there a better way to smoke MYOs? Is Gambler cheap tobacco? What would someone recommend for a "classier" smoke? As a cigar smoker (occasionally anymore) and a pipe smoker, I'm interested in the aesthetic values of my smoking over filling a habit or an addiction, and while I originally switched to MYO for the massive price difference (I can make about 200 cigarettes for about $10 on my current tobacco/papers), I wouldn't mind paying a little more if it would make a big difference in taste or quality.
Just hoping for a little help here. = ) I'm new as you can see.
Oh, one more thing: I bought a small package of Bali Shag goldenleaf and I find it to be surprisingly fresh and enjoyable, which lead to my questioning the quality of Gambler in the first place. I'm looking for a more powerful smoke, I suppose, since I'm used to unfiltereds and cigars and such.

With MYO there is difference in tobacco quality and taste, and tube quality and taste, check out this site - which is pretty much the yellow book on MYO/RYO:

The most powerful 'smoke' I've had is American Spirit Perique [black pouch]
As a Cigar and Pipe Smoker I am assuming you aren't inhaling - which would be wise when smoking Perique - that stuff wiped me out...LOL
For different tubes, check out the Vera Cruz line on that site - classy looking tubes - I didn't appreciate the taste too much but you might like them.
You made a wise choice in buying the Topomatic injector - they're great.

| Hey, thank you very much. I've been perusing that site since yesterday, actually, having seen it recommended in other posts, but I'll probably give it another look, get a better feel for everything. |
