Eliminating Smoke and Mirrors in the Mail
The House Subcommittee on Federal Workforce, Postal Service and the District of Columbia will hold a hearing entitled “Eliminating Smoke and Mirrors in the Mail.” The hearing will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2008, at 2:00 p.m., in room 2154 of the Rayburn House Office Building.
The hearing will examine Postal Cooperative Mail and Postal “nonmailable tobacco.”

It's way too late to make comments...the hearing was April 24. I suppose this stuff is posted in the Federal Register...do I have to subscribe?  |

Carr's statement among this group is really interesting...and absolutely aimed at shutting down Native American website cig sales with shipping via the US mail...he cites the loss of revenue to the state because of lost taxes...calls it illegal...but Native Americans are sovereign nations, so he's equating this as illegal if they don't collect a tax for the state or in NY for NY City, geesshhh, those guys are tax into the hole there...but then he opens the door for Internet sales of cig...legal sales apparently would include Native Americans as collecting that what 30.00/carton tax they have now...
Bottom line: it's about the money and that's all...
I've had kids under 18 come up to me in a shopping mall parking lot and ask for a cig, when I said no, they offered to give me 10.00 for one...  Ok, I hesitated a little before saying no.... 
They can't stop the illegals from coming across the boarders, how do they think they're going to control kids and cigs...they've only been trying to do that for what the last 100 years and apparently it's not successful yet!
And what about 4.00/gal gas!! they can't do anything about that either and they're outsourcing all the jobs as well...I mean don't those folks in DC have something else to do beside worry about whether or not a bunch of adults are smoking...I mean they need to give it up and move on!! |

As states increase "sin" taxes more money will go to Al Capone's over-seas family in LA Cosa Nostra, Sicily
Are there any historians on this forum, who believe that Prohibition was as successful as the current American war OF terror? |
