I hope I am posting this in an appropriate place. I'm trying to recruit cigarette smokers in the California Bay Area to participate in a paid volunteer MRI study. But I've been having trouble finding enough smokers to participate. If anyone from this forum is interested, or can offer advice on how to find Bay Area smokers (besides craigslist), I would be very grateful if you would contact me, either through this site or by email to stanfordsmokers@yahoo.com.
Many many thanks!

| Good luck with that. Don't expect to find any volunteers here, we're just not interested in aiding and abetting any medical or research people. We're subjected to enough bullshit now. |

gee thomas...let's see...Kalifornia has banned smokers from all public and many private places including residences...it doesn't require a degree from Stanford to figure out why you may have difficulty in finding participants. Why not save yourself the trouble of "studying" us and do what every other institution all the way to the Surgeon General's office does in regards to smoking and smokers...LIE. |

Yeah, no kidding! It's not a convenient place to do such studies. I didn't come to California for that purpose--it just sort of happened, so now I'm doing the best that I can with the circumstances that are here. Anyway, I certainly have no interest in lying, hence my desire to find real smokers! |

Like the vast majority of neuroscience and psychology research conducted at US universities, ours is funded by grants from the National Institutes of Health. |

ahhh...the folks that spew the 2nd hand smoke benzene and arsenic lies...the babies dying of SIDS lies...the 3,000 dead bodies a year lies...the organization who's anti-smoker panel includes "9 panel members <that> have received, or are currently receiving, funding from pharmaceutical companies..."

I'm sorry if I've somehow offended anyone by posting here. I don't know what connection to big Pharma you're talking about--the NIH operations are part of the US federal budget and fund nearly the entirety of public biomedical research in the US (as opposed to private biomedical research, which is frequently funded and conducted by pharmaceutical companies). Our research has nothing to do with pharmaceuticals--we study decision-making in the human brain using MRI! |

Thomas...please allow my assistance in formulating your hypothesis:
Smokers, after being debased, demoralized, criminalized, victimized, terminated from employment, over taxed, and denied the basic tenets of our country's Constitution based on the lies of pharma funded insanity and a bunch of whining hypochondriacs...have made the decision to be pretty fu(king cranky... |
