If someone told me 10 years ago nearly half of this nation would be under statewide smoking bans, I would've said "You need to stop smoking that crack, bro."

But it's pitiful that this will be the actual truth within the next 6 months. Iowa's ban starts July 1. OR will have a statewide smoking ban as of 1/1/2009. So that means 24 states will be smoke free when the new year comes. Sad

For those smokers who live only in states without smoking bans, good luck in finding a state that won't be smoke-free for years to come. It's gonna be a lot more easier to start a fed smoking ban if half of the nation is already smoke-free.

I know, I've thought that too from time to time,But we're operating under the assumption here that all will go the exact same way as alcohol prohibition did-that history will repeat itself-which isn't necessarily true.

I don't believe we're out of the quicksand yet, but I still retain hope. I always ask myself the same question:

Whose side is time really on?

The do-gooders really think they're going to eradicate ALL those evil bad-habits that people practice in the world?

First they wanted to get all those Chinese converted to Christianity; and now convert them all to nicotine-patches? All in good time?

They're gonna slim down every citizen in the U.S. and elsewhere, just take away their jobs and make the government pay for their exercise centers and the vast amounts of monitoring to insure they meet the new standards?

THEY THINK PUBLIC OPINION WILL ALWAYS CONTINUE TO BACK THEIR ATTITUDES AND IDEOLOGIES NO MATTER WHAT ? ? ?

I give it about 12 years, same as the Third Reich.

We need to be patient.
