ST. CHARLES, Ill. - There will be no indoor smoking at a
large convention for pipe smokers in Illinois.

A new Illinois law bans smoking in public places. That's taken some of the steam out of this weekend's Chicagoland International Pipe & Tobacciana Show in St. Charles.

The event draws 4,000 pipe collectors from more than 60 countries. Organizers tried to get around the new law by arguing their gathering was a private club meeting. Police and health officials said no.

Instead, a large smoking tent has been set up 15 feet away from the Pheasant Run convention center.

Convention-goer Al Shinogle of Denver likens it to a wine tasting without the wine.

See, this is why these laws succeed. These jackoffs should have just told the state of Illinois to shove it up their a$$ and held it in a smoker-friendly state. If they don't next year, they're nuts. Or gluttons for punishment. It's not all that warm in Illinois right now, either.

What this article doesn't say is a beetch from a Tobacco Free group complained to authorities in St. Charles about the pipe convention. Her argument is there is no smoking in IL buildings period. And as a result, the pipe smokers were forced outside. But this is a private event, god-d@##it.

If this beetch ever thinks of snooping into MY private business, she betta hope I don't get my hands on a lil black bud!

If she ever tried to snoop into a smokers rights event in a IL building, that's when she really gotta pay.

I'll go one better-if these people had already put the money down and leased this space for this convention, (and they obviously did) and the ban came in AFTER they put their money down,(which it apparently did) then they should have been exempt from the ban the first time. After that, it's up to them where they want to hold it next year.
