On the contrary seid, we ful well understand the hatred. We dont like that we feel that way, but what to do? We tried adopting Gandhis methods and they got stuffed down our throats.
Time for war. |

| well, it's as I've said for a decade now-we have to be consumed with as much hatred for them as they are for us. It IS slowly tipping that way-I began to notice it shortly after the oHEILo, New Mexico, and Arizona bans went through. A bar/restaurant owner in oHEILo who's about ready to go under said recently-"I hope every bastard that voted for this gets cancer." Can't get much more hatred than that LOL -but I would never have read this five years ago. |

I'd like to buy that bar owner a beer!
Yea, it has upped the level here, Illinois bar owners know they are screwed, and they ain't happy about it.
We have a sorta unique situation where tha Casinos are also under the ban, and most at the state do not like it. They have been trying all kinds of back door deals to get them exempt, but so far, so good. Get this, the state admits they will lose a bunch of revenue, well GOOOOLLLLEEEEEEEE!
I'm working the crowds with the Zippy - keep a ciggie in your mouth approach, and also working the 800 number to keep the dumb shits running. I need to find a fragrance maker, I know I could make some $$ as well as screwing with the antis.
Sigh, I'm off for my last breakfast coffee witha ciggie for awhile! |

Speaking of that, you'll probably be very amused(and not surprised) to see this article that shows the city of Joliet, IL, is already expecting a major hit in their 2008 budget, thanks to the major scope of the ban going as far to affect even casinos:

Puffer, you must be a Cop, or at least an ex-one. Maybe not.
Well I am a [Retired] Cop, and picking the times isn't really that critical.
If you're in a real small town, this isn't probably a good idea. You know the ones. Cops don't have any real crime to fight so they spend their time writing minor speeding tickets and the like.
But speaking for myself, I wouldn't waste probably a good hour of my time, (a) Writing the necessary Police Report, (b) Issuing the Citation, and (c) Confiscating the cigarette, cigar, etc. as evidence, which would (d) require sending it to the Lab, with all the paperwork associated with that.
There are things that most Cops worry about. Smoking doesn't rate up there.

First let me say welcome,
"There are things that most Cops worry about. Smoking doesn't rate up there. "
Must be refering to the ones with a little common sense ------
There's gotta be a "Barney Phife" in the mix somewhere

Bob, welcome and thanks for an old time LEO perspective.
Unfortunately, at least in this state, the fresh crop pf younguns are more Paramilitary in nature...... thus smoking in a bar is as big of a deal to them as a pedophile....... Think Barny Fife, with a submachine gun.
Wish they all had your experience about what a LEOs job is about. |

Unfortunately, a smoke-in is just not an option in some circumstances.
In my case, Calabasas has made it a misdemeanor(sp?) to smoke in public places, punishable by stiff fines and jail sentences. I'm not sure about the punishments for the state laws, but personally, I just cannot afford to take the chance to so domething like that at this point in my life.
I am the sole provider for my family, were I not currently unemployed, and for a variety of reasons we still live from payday to payday. Were I to receive such fines, or jail time, the legal fees and fines and other headaches like lost pay for time away from work would be devastating to my family.
Also, unfortunately, the sheeple here in SoCal have been so brainwashed now that I doubt we could get enough people to even think about participating in something like this. Sad, but true. |
