This is my first post, but I figure a forum of smokers would appreciate this story.

This all happened about a week ago. I was driving home from my girls place at about 2 am, through a less than great part of town. I was just driving down the road, minding my own business when I had to slam on my breaks to keep from hitting some crackhead standing in the middle of the road screaming all kinds of nonsense. After I stopped, he runs around to my door and sticks his hand in my truck saying something like "get outa the ***cking car it's mine now foo"! Luckily, I was smoking at the time...so I just put it out right on top of his hand (ouch!). He recoiled, but then lunged back at my door, but this time I was ready. A nice elbow to the face sent him to the ground and I drove off. I needed about 3 more cigs after that!

But yea...smoking ain't always bad!

Yea...I reported it to the police, but they said they probably won't catch him. They said if he had actually stolen my truck they would have a much better chance of finding him. Oh well, I'm glad he didn't for the obvious reasons, plus I had my laptop with me and it would really suck to lose that and my truck. They told me if they arrest anyone with a burned hand and broken nose they'd call me Very Happy .

The cop at the station did tell me that as long as I have clean record (which I do), that I should invest in some sort of "protection" if I pass through that part of town with any sort of regularity. He said there are just too many crackheads and not enough cops, a sad state of affairs. I think I may visit the local gun shop when I get paid...
