Im fairly certain nitrosamines are known carcingens, a chemical in all tobacco products. Just what I ve read...could be wrong. I do agree with most of your post though. Smile

I'm not really sure, even after research since 1998. No one seems to agree. I've seen anywhere from 40 to 60 but no comprehensive listing for tobacco smoke. The anti-smokers always quote the 4,000 chemicals but can't name them because Stanton Glantz picked that number out of the air. The most I have seen listed on Toxic Toxicology is 19 or so.

What that article about the study has pointed out is, as far as I'm concerned, that cigarette smoke or SHS was not considered carcinogenic until 2002, long after this study was finished. Everything I have found has pointed to the EPA report being fraudulent. They even committed to a conclusion before their study of studies was completed. The findings were adjusted to bring the risk factors to double the actual findings in order to be able to list tobacco smoke as a carcinogen.

I have a listing of over 150 studies. Most scientist wont consider a risk factor of less than 3 to be a slight health risk. Only 3 of the studies show a risk factor of 3 to 4.

It's all about profit of the makers of smoking cessation products. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, set up by Johnson & Johnson, is behind most of the bans being passed. It's all about money and control not health.

Out of the thousands of studies and researched articles I have read. I have retained on file, which I make available to anyone free, over 350 as word attachments and another 400 or so I have not indexed. I have more than enough to prove the fraud of SHS. IT KILLS NO ONE.

I have even been asked by authors to share my research.

Have you done any research into TSN's and their carcinogenic activity? This seems to be the anti's strongest argument regarding SHS, that I ve read anyways. Any input refuting these studies would be appreciated I m sure. Confused

I'll look for more but I doubt if I will do any better than this, which leave the subject up in the air.

Nitrosamines and Cancer
Richard A. Scanlan, Ph.D.

The full article can be found here. http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/f-w00/nitrosamine.html

Do these types of exposure to nitrosamines cause human cancer? An enormous amount of indirect evidence indicates that nitrosamines are human carcinogens. For instance, tobacco-specific nitrosamines are one of the major groups of chemical carcinogens in tobacco products, and no doubt remains about the causal link between tobacco use and cancer. But it is difficult to evaluate the risk of cancer from daily exposure of 1 microgram from foods and beverages. The same difficulty applies to the risk assessment of the exposure to minute amounts of aflatoxin, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and heterocyclic amines in a variety of foods and beverages. Unfortunately, our current level of science is unable to answer these questions satisfactorily, but future scientific advances will undoubtedly provide better solutions.

This kind of information always adds to a good conversation.
