It seems to me that this war against smokers is just ruthless. The non smokers use the SHS as their attack. forcing the smokers to counter with the 'no proven data' defense. On both fronts there can be cleanup. The non smokers can quit bellyaching with rhetoric and the smokers should not give in to this rhetoric. A too large majority of the anti smokeing adv. would like to see all smokers hung! That is; ''BAN IT EVERYWHERE! because I don't like it!'' It is crap. All this does is cause more and more resistance. I believe that smokers can strengthen their position incredibly by COMPLETELY staying away from tactic: ''the dangers of FHS/SHS''. It really is of no use. It really does not seem to do anything except fule the fire.
Heres how it should be-
Non smokers: 'What can we do to accomodate both of us?: Ventilation, smoking stations, self policing of butts, (not littering). ZERO hostility through ''my way or the highway'' bullying. (goes for smokers too)
Smokers: What can we do to prove our want to accomodate the both of us?: Advocate the willingness to self police of butts, push for ventilation within public places, show willingness to prove interest in public and personal health.
I have been poking around and it seems there is no medical reports such as autopsy, diagnosis etc that directly blames FHS/SHS as the cause of illness/death including -bnlt- Ashma, emphasema, cancer and so on. All seem to state things such as, IRT smoking,; ''Cause of death was lung cancer..'' ''... in which it is believed that cigarrette smoke was a contributing factor..'', ''related to'', ''contributed to'', ''probale cause'', ''aggrevated by'',,.
None of the sources seem to directly state that FHS/SHS in fact, actually, caused the death or illness. |

Since this kind of consideration and accommodation had already been in place for decades, I believe the obvious answer is that there is a war against smoking on. This is not about health or protecting anyone, but is in fact PROHIBITION without actually calling for it. The antis are pushing to ban smoking everywhere and are now starting on apartments and condos........which will allow them to ban it in single dwelling homes even with no children there............just to level the playing field of course.
This is back door prohibition, pure and simple. Always has been. |

One thing I see is the whole thing is truelly mishandled. Hmm? Just like prohibition. It was handled very stupidly and it caused a tremendous amount of trouble. Whatever. It seems that we! The most civilized folk on this planet are not perfect hmm? Takes strife, court, trial and error,,, yaddi yadda yadda. There is plenty going on today; military, political and so on that one can view and say: ''What the hell! What a stupid decision....''
'guess we human folk arn't squared away yet. How much of the human brain, only, is said to be only used? I guess all those jokes back in the '60's on Star Trek about Spock poking at humans about their lack of logic are not so funny when you really think of it. |

If you really want to know what "might" satisfy the Anti-Smokers?
Total prohibition of smoking of any form, with the death penalty for anyone foolish enough to break their law.
And I am NOT being silly here.
We tried "accomodating" them and they fed us our asses. Now the only way is to shoot back. |
