Salutations my fellow smokees, I have recently joined the ranks in looking for a nice relaxing past time. I'm on my second pack of Camel Filters on the recommendation of many reviews. They're pretty nice, a little heavy, but I like the taste. I only smoke about 3 a day right now. However, I go to an extremely conservative university--Baylor as a matter of fact, and people here look at you funny and do their little cough thing if you even look like thinking about lighting up. However, I find that smoking a nice cig with a random stranger is actually a pretty fun and bonding experience.
Anyway, done with the rambling. A quick question--should I invest in a decent lighter ie zippo? They look really nice and I like the thought of a refillable one. The windproof thing would be handy as well, as this cheap gas station Bic i'm using tends to burn my fingers on a windy day. If I should, do you guys know of any good sites to buy one? Also--feel free to recommend any other brands of smokes I should try, as I've only tried one. |

Welcome, and smoke 'em if you got 'em!
Zippos rock, invest in one.
There is only brand of cigs if you ask me; Camels. Marlboro is the most popular here in the U.S., but call me a rebel, I still think Camel is the best.
SMOKE UP AND FU CK ANYONE WHO TELLS YOU NOT TO! |

| I have a few friends that religiously smoke Marlboros. Those taste like car exhaust! I love the turkish blend, it tastes quite pleasant. And aight, gonna see about getting a zippo then! They look cool and as from experience tonight, I really need a wind resistant lighter. The wind is my worst enemy. |

Magnus, welcome to the forum.
You are quite lucky you go to an extremely conservative college, if you went to a liberal college you would be banished to the outskirts to have a smoke.
You can also get those wind resistant throw-away lighters- they have a metal shield that can be raised to protect the flame - and are cheaper. |

While Zippos are kinda cool, good luck lighting one in the wind. I havent tried the "pipe specific" ones though, they might work better, but look a little silly to me. Torch lighters and bics are the best for outdoor use imho. YMMV |

The Zippo me used to have lt up my menthols in the wind. But that was 4 years ago when I last used one.
Me didn't like refilling the Zippo with lighta fluid often. And not to mention you have to be very careful to not spill any lighta fluid. Thats why I ended up giving it to a former chick friend who happened to smoke too. |

Thats another good point Jay, I have to refill mine at least every two days, but also smoke a pack and 1/2 a day too. Another consideration is the mess with the fluid and replacing flints every two weeks or so (that might be from trying to light it in the wind and prematurely wearing it out though). Still, they are nice looking, just not very convenient, to me at least. Still havent had much luck in the wind either. YMMV |

ANY lighter that uses lighter fluid-old trick: saturate it, then let it set for about a day. Nothing I used to hate more than getting 'fluid burn' on my crotch or gonads! Very painful. |

| I'm getting better at lighting this Bic. I've only burned my thumb a few times now! The wind can be a real pain in the ass, but its getting better. I've found so far that smoking while reading really helps me focus, dunno if its the relaxation or just having something to do. |

Find a smoke shop and buy a wind-proof lighter, those things are great too!
As for cigarettes......................roll your own. Why pay the extortion and blackmail (taxes) to support programs no one else wants to pay for, and the tobacco companies that sat back and sold us out? |
