Rally harsh taste. Burn in the throat.
Reminds me of Marlboro without the filter.
I smoked Top and Zig-Zag for a while. Then Stoker's #2. My local source for stoker's couldn't get it anymore (state laws about distributors) and picked up People True Taste.
As to Alist you're right. I was trying to "rib" him, but sarcasm doesn't work well online.
I'm new here and forget people don't know me yet (see my thread with Jay).
I never understood light and ultra-light. I never could taste them.
I give my wife a hard time about it too. She smoked light and ultra lights, and still uses light tubes.
It funny when she asks me to roll a cigarette for her and she only smokes 1/4 of it.
The tar traps might be interesting. I emailed TarGard to see if I can fit the permanent device to hand rolled. Not sure my cigarettes are normally big enough for it (about wooden pencil diameter). |

Yeah STDog, figured you were just ribbing Alist, i couldnt smoke em like that either. I just asked about the Bugler because a lot of people either like it or hate it. But whatever makes you happy, and theres a lot of choices. I like Bugler because it doesnt give me that bitter recon taste and its available everywhere, so when I m between orders, i can still have a decent smoke.
I tried Tar Gards at Alists recommendation, but couldnt get use to them, my wife wont smoke without them now though. They really lighten up your smoke, too much for me. They catch a lot of tar though. Plus they only cost about $4.00, so even if you dont like em, no big loss. Careful which one you get though, the filtered ones make for a seriously light smoke. YMMV |

Top and zig-zag are just as available, at least here. They'll do in a pinch, not that I care to use either long term again.
Tobacco can be tricky to describe, and I'm more of a like it or don't guy. Not too much analyzing why. Same with coffee, wine, and whiskey.

For sure just the metal tar trap version. No other filtering. I wouldn't expect that to lighten the taste. Maybe a bit of cooling which may be a good thing, allowing the taste to be more prevalent. Again, like coffee too hot and you cannot taste it. |

Yeah STDog, tastes certainly differ between people, as I cant stomach Zig Zag and Top's even worse, imho. No offense intended to fans of either. I just dont seem to have a taste for recon, but I guess it doesnt bother many. Bugler does tastes similiar to a Marlboro to me too, same type blend just made with real tobacco (I guess the strong flavor turns some off?).
As far as the Tar Gards (trap only, no filter), they do cool the smoke somewhat and also reduce the amount of smoke. No more billowy clouds with them. The amount of tar captured by them is impressive, but thats also where a lot of the flavor comes from, imho. But like I said, my wife cant smoke without em anymore and really loves em (she doesnt seem to mind the expanded stem and recon in grocery brands much either). Again, to each their own. YMMV |

So, what's the end that the cigarette goes in like? Will it hole a wooded pencil OK? What about tubes (which are larger than manufactured cigarettes)?
Could you possibly post a picture and some measurements?
I haven't seen them locally, an hate to order not knowing it'll fit, especially with the $6-8 shipping charge (more than the item!). This thing should only be $1-2 to ship several. |

The Tar Gard fits a standard filter perfectly, as well as the Rizla Cig size. Other MYO tubes are a bit larger but fit nicely as well, just need a little pinching to get them in. I imagine that youd have to "roll" a pretty fat one as a pencil (#2) is too small (just barely) to fill it adequately for a seal. A bic pen is about exactly the same size as the opening for comparison. Hope that helps but have no way of posting a pic. |

Is the section the cigarette goes in metal or plastic? Does there appear to be enough material to enlarge the hole , or is it too thin?

I was worried that'd be the case
So I'd need to make an adapter of some sort, and it'd probably still need a more consistent diameter than I manage.

can I inquire, is it you don't have a digital camera or just the posting in this forum?
I noticed this forum doesn't allow image attachments, so you need to use a hosting site (like photobucket or imageshack).

Cool dog, my dobie "Deuce" just kicked the bucket Oct 06, he was 13. Like I said a cheap Bic pen is almost exactly the same size. I thought that would do it for you. OT: My dobie was a serious monster till he was bout 5, then he chilled out quite a bit.
There is enough metal to enlarge the hole, but I dont believe Ive ever seen a bit that small (its about a 15mm long channel, and extremely small in diameter). The receptacle end is metal (brass) and a plastic mouthpiece slips on it. Heres a good pic, and a place to order one, it comes with 2 mouthpeices, so if you order an extra trap piece, you ll have two. (you ll probably want to add the cleaning set with it). Again, it makes your smoke as light, if not lighter than a light tube. YMMV

Believe it or not he's a basset hound. Jet black coat other than the tan legs/face and the whit blaze on the chest. Very odd color pattern for the breed.

I'd looked at the manufacturer's page. No shot of the end where the cigarette goes though
So is that metal tube big enough to drill out to the size of most tubes.(maybe a sanding drum instead of a drill )
The info I've seen is 8.1mm for most MYO tubes while manufacture cigarettes are 7.5mm.
So that's 0.3mm i need to remove from the wall. If it's only 0.5mm thick to begin with, it might be a bit thin afterward. If it 1.0-1.5mm thick and I should be safe.
FWIW, the nozzle on my wife's Supermatic has a 0.5mm thick wall. |

| LMAO!, I thought you meant drill out the venturi hole to let more flavor through. The receptacle IS big enough to use regular MYO tubes already, just have to pinch them a little to fit, they work fine. (Upon closer inspection I can see thats not a Doberman at all...lol.) So you can use these for MYO tubes as is. Good luck with em. For more RYO related discussions, another good resource is www.ryorevolution.com , between these two is a wealth of info available, and a chatbox. |
