Has anyone tried the People's True Taste tobaccos? The name of the company who manufactures this tobacco is People's Pride. I knew I could purchase this tobacco by the pound from Pipes & Cigars. However, I refused to purchase pounds of tobacco which I haven't tasted.
I tracked down the phone number of People's Pride, in order to find out if I might purchase samples. The lady I spoke with on the phone, informed me the company wasn't licensed to sell tobacco in my state, so they would instead ship tobacco samples to me free of charge! I received 2 oz samples of the light, the ultralight and the menthol ultralight a few days later.
The ultralight is so good, it has now become my daily smoke. Having just gotten into syo at the beginning of September 2007, I had been smoking both Rave and Stokers #2 ultralight up to this point. These tobaccos are heavily flavored and very, very sweet, which was a turn-on at first. Having tired of these extremely sweet tobaccos, the People's True Taste ultralight served as a perfect counterpoint. Although the People's True Taste ultralight has a hint of sweetness, the underlying flavor is almost like butter. It is a very, very smooth smoke, which doesn't seem to be anywhere near as heavily flavored as the Rave or Stokers #2 ultralights. The nicotine hit from the People's True Taste ultralight is also light enough for me, which is not the case with some ultralights on the market, such as Gambler or Smoker's Outlet ultralight.
People's True Taste is the only company I have found that produces a menthol ultralight. When shoved into a Gizeh Menthol Tip tube, the perfect menthol ultralight is created. The flavor is heavily mentholated, while the nicotine hit is very light. It makes for a very smooth menthol ultralight cigarette.
The People's True Taste light, tastes exactly like the ultralight, except the nicotine hit is somewhat stronger. I really needed this flavor for my Camel light smoking friend to sample over upcoming holidays. So this 2 oz sample will be mixed with the People's True Taste Ultralight and the D & R Ramback for her to try.
I am very pleased with the People's True Taste tobaccos, as well as pleased with the pricing and service from Pipes & Cigars. I highly recommend both companies, and particularly People's Pride, who have the good business sense to provide samples to a potential customer free of charge.
Has anyone else sampled People's True Taste tobaccos? If so, what were your opinions? |

Have you tried the flavored types? As my wife likes vanilla and peach tobacs. I imagine the baccy must be pretty good as its more expensive than the highly rated Sagamores (not the Sag flavored, which are really high). |

I've tried a pound of the regular and found it to be chunk cut (like midnight spec.) and a whang that I don't care for. I prefer a shag cut.

| I've tried the 'flavored' tobacco and the only thing I noticed is you can smell the flavor, not taste it. The smoke still tastes the same. I won't waste my money on flavored tobacco that only smells like the flavor it doesn't taste like.......hehehehehe |

This is a good tobacco and I do enjoy it. The 'buttery' flavor is unique and I haven't tasted any tobaccos similar, although the taste does remind me of Virginia. However, the buttery taste is wearing on me. I had a bit of Rave ultralight and blended it with the People's True Taste tobacco which left me with a VERY good cigarette.

The only flavored tobaccos I have so far sampled are the Top. They are flavored well, but it is a Top tobacco, so not the best in the world, in my opinion. |

This 'whang' of which you speak, did it taste like butter to you? |

That bad? The light and the ultralight both have this 'butter' taste that remind me of Virginia. I don't know if that's due to the presence of Virginia or simply flavorings. |

I've been smoking the full flavor, hand rolled with TOP papers for over a year. Much better than TOPS, ZigZag, or Gambler, and as good as Stokers #2, though different.
I'd like to try the Natural, but need to find a sample some where.
I'll try contacting them directly. |

| I have since purchased 2 pounds of the menthol ultralight. Phenomenal is the only word I have to describe it. |
