Okay, I thought I'd seen everything. But this is from the November issue of Prevention Magazine, which hasn't previously been quite this nuts:
"Access Denied
Check these items at the door to help keep your home's air clean"
...
"Cigarettes - It's not just smoke that dirties the air--it's the particles on smokers' clothing, too. If a guest must step outside for a cigarette, ask her to wear a "smoking jacket" that stays out in a breezeway or garage"
You can read the whole article at
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21379887/
If you wish to write to Prevention Magazine, their email is faces@prevention.com.
What's interesting is that the article doesn't say anything about leaving, say, your running clothes outside after exposure to fumes from automobiles...gee, you think it might be because of the six pages of car ads in this issue?
And, even though the article is about reducing indoor pollutants, not a word is said about cleaning solvents or aerosol products like air fresheners...could it have anything to do with the full page Clorox ad?
Gawd---how dumb. But the kool-aid will be drunk and swallowed by most of the readership with no critical thinking involved. After all, it's science. |

They're just propping up the "third hand smoke" bullshit we heard about awhile ago. I guess SHS isn't causing the ruckuss they hoped it would in the long run. I also believe this is yet another way to alienate smokers from any other people. It's just not enough to have to go a million miles away to have a smoke..... Now, you gotta change your cothes too, leper!
Hitler would have fvcking LOVED this.
Gotta keep the fear building....... |

One of the newest assaults on personal freedoms is a low key (for now anyways) movement to ban perfumes, after shaves and so forth because there might be people sensitive to these odors.
A few weeks ago we saw in our church bulletin , a request for members not to wear these to services out of consideration for sensitives. Do we even have any ? Who knows? Nobody kills over when the Priest lights the incense...so I think not. But rationality does not sway these control freak types.
The local hospital has requested employees not to use these items.
It won't be long...matter of months maybe ...before we see an attempt in Oregun to have a law along these lines written into the constitution.
So the move to become hysterical now over third hand smoke is but a normal continuation of the incremental assauts on our freedoms. Once that genei was lert out back in '64 there never was any realistic belief that he could be forced back in.
I can just imagine my reaction if I was at somebody's house and they demanded I wear a "smoking jacket".....
That ain't gonna happen 'cause I naturally shun idiots and chickified guys anyway. |

What a great opportunity to go Anti-Anti on them...
An anonymous letter -or not - saying you just think it's wonderful that they banned perfumes - but you are more concerned with the incense - which is also second-hand-smoke...and you want them to cease and desist the archaic practice that is killing 20000 church going folk in the country. Oh, and don't forget, it also prematurely kills 10000 alter boys per year.
It's not an accurate stat...but what the hell...the Antis don't use accurate readings of stats either.

Yes indeed justice would demand something along those line true enough.
Like I always though we should agree with the separation of Church and state fanatics and insist Postal Workers stop promoting religion by delivering Christmas and Hunnakka cards and presents.
Imagine what a chunk of cjange that amounts to!
Alas, it will not not by my hands.
I like incense at Mass.... I like cards and presents...these idiots might just take it seriously and ban these . |

I'll change my clothes if the nonsmoker is willing to wash them for me. Othawise, get the F out of my face if you got a problem with seeing tiny ashes or tiny particles on my clothes.
My clothes smell like smoke because I'm a smoker, duh! That doesn't mean I dunno how to shower myself every single F'king day.
What's next? If I got ashes on my clothes even if they're just 1 or 2 ashes, I can't get hired? And/or I can't enter the building period?
If this "3rd hand smoke" thang actually becomes reality nationwide in the near future (were even if you got ashes on you or you smell like smoke, you won't get hired/served/denied entrance into a building), I might have to force myself inside with some punches and a lawsuit threat.
No shoes, no shirt, no service is one thang and understandable. But no smoke-free clothing, no service is REALLY crossing the line. |
